No One Can Accuse Him of Being All Thumbs Anymore

The Detroit Free Press: Michigan teen released from hospital after losing thumbs in explosion at school

Being stupid can have consequences.

Making your own homemade explosive device and then bringing it to school to show it off is the very definition of stupid.

Having it go off in your hands while doing so, and losing both thumbs and injuring 4 other students and a teacher in the boom that resulted is a sad consequence of immense explosive stupidity.

Really, don't try this at home (or school) folks.

There was a student in my high-school chemistry class that was suspended (several times) for making explosive concoctions in the lab.

He tried the same thing at the Junior College I went to and wound killing himself when he released a cloud of Hydrogen Cyanide.

This incident happened at one of the schools that my school used to play sports against. I had several friends due to several years of competition through the years.
I heard from friends at my old high school that they also went into lockdown due to the incident at this other school, nearly 26 miles away.
I still don't understand why the schools don't allow volunteers like retirees to take shifts, walking the halls of the buildings, with CCW weapons, provided they are qualified, to act as deterrents to mass shooters.

I remember a guy in high school that could no longer count to ten using his fingers, and it was a homemade firecracker that did the job.

drjim: Ouch. Playing around with explosives or dangerous substances when you don't know how to safely handle them )and often even if you do) is just a bad or fatal accident waiting to happen.

PigPen51: Because the MEA and teachers are lefties and completely on the side of "all guns are bad" and no one but police can be trusted with guns except police are bad too per their worldview.

Old NFO: Yep, lots of stupidity happened.

John, Yeah back in '68 one of my acquaintances in high school did that, only he was trying to make a rocket engine out of a pellet gun CO-2 cylinder (yikes! can you say mini pipe bomb). Actually the kid was quite smart academically, just not practically. Fortunately he didn't bring his creation to school.
