A Modest Proposal For Spain

So Spain is facing an invasion of 60,000 Islamic migrants from Morocco into their enclave in Ceruta (and Europe is kinda freaking out about it),  and likely moving on from there onto mainland Spain itself.

Luckily, the Spanish have a solution to this problem.

Indeed, since they've been demanding this solution on another country, I'd daresay they should boldly move forward and progressively adopt the following proposal:

There's a ready made slogan for it too: From the "River to the Sea, Al-Andalus will be free".

Well, fair is fair, and all that. Good luck senors, you'll need it.

4 Up. 4 Down.

Today the weather was VFR with a TFR coming in to shut down the airspace at noon.

So I got up early and headed to the airport.

Misty and scattered/broken above 2,000, but still VFR for pattern work.

So I did the preflight checks, including making sure I could access the runway from the taxiway as they have had the main drag torn up all summer.

Thankfully the construction is now up-runway of our hangar row so it was easy to get to the run-up area and runway, and no need to taxi the plane on the service drive.

All checks were good, as was the run up, and soon I was up in the air again.

I did touch and goes, as if you landed long for a full stop, you got a very long taxi around to avoid the construction.

With two other aircraft wrapping up as I took off, I soon had 27R all to myself as business jets and King Airs took off and landed from 27L. A very light wind of 6 knots from 240 degrees made for a beautiful day to fly.

For the first one, I did a great takeoff, a solid pattern and then a good landing.  Having not flown since May, I was a little rusty.

Landing two was better, as was landing three.  Touch and goes were fun as always. Landing 4, a full stop was perfect and landed with plenty of room to get off the runway at my hangar row without having to take the construction detour route. The number of landings matched the number of takeoffs, so all was well.

Got the plane parked, washed the bugs off, played with the new Garmin GTN650 navigation system that was just installed on the aircraft for a bit, and done. Beat the TFR closure by plenty of hours and already at work.

That's 0.5 and 4 good to great landings.

NYC: Allahu Akbar Yet Again

So, right after Mayor Mamdani (NY-Hamasitarian) went off on a tirade against Israel, Netayahu and Zionists, a New Yorker in a most timely manner stabs a Jewish pedestrian, as well as a nearby Asian fellow pedestrian, while yelling "Allahu Akbar".

The Guardian: Double stabbing in New York City being investigated as possible hate crime

New York City police are investigating a pair of stabbings near Central Park as a possible hate crime, police commissioner Jessica Tisch said Thursday.

The suspect, Raul Morales, allegedly stabbed a 57-year-old Asian man in the back with a knife, then stabbed a 50-year-old Jewish man in the torso with a screwdriver, according to a New York police department spokesperson. Morales allegedly yelled “Allahu Akbar” before the stabbings, police said. The attacks occurred about two blocks apart and in broad daylight in Manhattan’s affluent Upper West Side neighborhood.

Only a possible hate crime, mind you.  Also, apparently Allahu Akbar now means "possibly has mental problems" in addition to its traditional meaning of "the motive for the attack will never be known"  --  even when the attacker has no known history of mental problems.

New York police were assessing whether a mental health problem had driven the suspect’s actions.

“While the perpetrator has no known mental health history with the NYPD, the initial investigation suggests that mental health may have been a factor,” Tisch tweeted in a statement on X. “At this time there is no known link between Morales and either of the victims, nor between the victims and each other.”

Quite the deflection from a hate crime to a claim of mental problems, now isn't it?

The desperation of the authorities to obfuscate and have the motive for the attack be anything but a deliberate anti-semitic attack by an adherent of Islam is rather tiresome.

Unless, of course, the authorities want to claim that if you yell "Allahu Akbar" when you stab someone you have mental problems - but wouldn't such a claim be Islamophobic?

Yep, That's What Most People Would Call A Clue

But some people ignore quite blatant clues.

WXYZ Detroit: 'We saw and heard the rattle': Witness describes Oakland County snake bite

A man was bit by a Massasauga rattler at the Proud Lake Boat Launch in Commerce Township.

The rattle is the snake being polite and giving you a friendly warning to stay away, not an invitation to come closer, as this fellow did.

Remember the rattle sound doesn't mean "get closer for a better photo", it means back the heck away or you're about to discover the Find Out portion of FAFO.

The fellow in this story ignored the rattle and thus got the full-on FO treatment with a bite to his hand.

Thankfully, Massasauga rattler bites are rarely fatal and he was quickly treated with antivenom at UofM hospital so he should be both a little wiser as a result and probably a bit poorer with a rather large hospital bill, too.

Yet a new thing to be aware about when you're hiking about in a rec area in Commerce.  I know Massasaugas are around the Ann Arbor Arboretum area but did not know they have a population in the Proud Lake area. I've seen plenty of Garter and other non-venomous species there, but never a Massasauga.

Happily, Michigan has only one species of venomous snake, and it is generally small, shy, and wants to get away from you rather than bite you. It very politely even tries to warn you to go away first, whenever possible for it to do so,  before it decides to strike.

You'd be well advised to heed the polite warning and leave the snake alone so it can continue to do snake things, and you can continue to do human things without racking up unnecessary pain, swelling, and medical bills.

Thunder Over Michigan 2026 - Got MiGs?

Yes, Thunder Over Michigan had MiGs.

Not one but two MiG-17s to be exact.  One a Lim-5 and the other a Lim-6 variant.

Lim-5

Lim-6

The Lim-6 has a beefed up strakes on the wing with strongpoints for air to ground attack, and has and an extended tailcone that was originally designed to have a parachute but that was never put into production, and instead it is used as a transport pod.

Both MiGs taxied out together for a tandem takeoff.

Quite a sight as, with afterburners roaring, they took to the skies.

Then we got some formation passes.

They were hard to pick out of the sky in the smoke and twilight until they got rather close.

Managed some decent shots of the MiGs in the grey. Whether in camo or bare metal, both were hard to pick out of the muck.

Soon they landed and taxied back after a darn nice display of their speed, power, and maneuverability.

An impressive display of two historic jet warbirds.

Thunder Over Michigan 2026 - The Red Arrows

Even with the Smoke over Michigan, leading to the cancellation of the Friday show due to weather being below minimums for safe flying, the show went on Saturday.

Smoke was still present, and having the show run from 3pm to 9pm with the airshow performances themselves taking place from 6-9pm made lighting conditions rather unpleasant for photographers.  The joy of dealing with smoke and the sun shining right in your lens through breaks in the smoke made a less than ideal photographic environments.

For all that, the airshow offered some neat performances.

The highlight of the show was the Royal Air Force's Red Arrows, with this being their first time performing in Michigan, on a special tour for America's 250th anniversary.

Flying here via Iceland, Greenland, Newfoundland and on down to Michigan their next and final US performance will be at Oshkosh.

The Red Arrows did a staggered formation takeoff of  3, 2 and 2 for sevena aircraft in the air.

They quickly assembled into formation and the show began.

It began with a unique formation that may never occur again:  The Red Arrows with the US F-16 Falcon Demonstrator jet:

Very cool.

After the F-16 departed the formation, the main Red Arrow show began, starting with their namesake: a  Red Arrow formation:

Lots of cool formation acrobatics then took place.

The pilots were having an interesitng time keeping sight of each other in the smoky conditions which made it a tad harder than a typical show.

It ended with a formation break

and then a landing in beautifully timed, spaced, and tightly executed sequential order, with a perfectly spaced formation taxi back to the ramp.

An impressive display of precision team airmanship under difficult conditions.

The RAF Red Arrows did a phenomenal display and very well represented the best of the Royal Air Force and the United Kingdom.

Dive 1 - North House Reef

Dawn broke on Sunday as we awoke at the first dive site.

A good breakfast and a dive briefing and we got ready to hit the water.

This group was different form my previous two voyages. A lot more teens on board and most of the racks were taken up by a group on a trip organized by Blue Planet Scuba from Washington DC. They had their own instructor and dive master (trainee) with them and most were open water divers so limited to a 60 foot depth.  Some were there to take the advanced or deep course in the Bahamas. So it was not a highly experienced bunch of divers, with some exceptions.

This cruise would not be a group of hard-diving, hard-drinking pirates.  But, it would be fun all the same.

The first dive was a nice bunny hop on North House Reef.  With a max depth of 21.2 feet, it was an easy first dive, even though the waves and swell at the surface made it a little more interesting than anticipated - especially when getting back on the boat.

The water was basically bath water,  with the surface at 95 degrees and the lowest temp the whole dive at 87 degrees no wetsuit was needed, just a rash-guard and swim shorts.

Descending, I soon got to see some pretty fish:

Lots of coral and small fish abounded:

Being at such a shallow depth,  I had a solid one hour dive and was back on the boat with almost 1000 psi still in the tank. I did get back on the boat without issue, being used to having waves and the ladder kicking around a bit during boarding so it was no problem.

Not a bad first dive in the Bahamas at all.

Where There's Smoke

There's more smoke.

Thanks to Canada's mismanagement of their forests, currently pumping out 200 tons of carbon per hour, we have haze and Low IFR conditions in the area.

Wisps of smoke are actually visible, not just this all-encompassing haze.

The only upside? This entire town smells like BBQ.

Mmmmm, BBQ.

In Other Nautical News

The historic World War II submarine USS Silversides has safely made her way under to a shipyard in Wisconsin for overhaul and preservation work.

Fox 11 News: WWII submarine USS Silversides reaches Sturgeon Bay shipyard for repairs

USS Silverside's home is a fine museum in Muskegon, Michigan, and its always a delight to visit the well-preserved historic submarine.

The $3.5 million dollar project should keep her preserved and ready for visitors to learn of her and her crew's gallant service, and that of all US submariners in the Second World War for many years to come.

Back From Diving Paradise

Returned from a great time on a live-aboard doing some diving in the Bahamas with Blackbeard's. I had arrived in the Bahamans the day before departure, meeting up with Jay from the last dive trip.

Six days at sea with this lower rack being the only area for myself and my dry gear:

Blackbeard's is still the best value at sea, so long as you understand that it is camping at sea.

On this trip, we dealt with some harsh weather, rolling seas and difficult dive conditions,  so we had to cancel some planned dives and locations we did only 17 of the planned 19 dives due to the conditions and need to move out of the heavy winds and waves.

We dove in the Exumas and off Eleuthera changing sites and maneuvering to avoid the conditions as much as possible.

Still to say the boat was a rockin' was an understatement.

18 divers, 5 crew on a 65 foot boat meant for tight quarters, but a lot of fun and getting to meet people and dive till you drop.

Sharks were seen and fed, stingrays seen, and other denizens of the diving depths were admired as sites both new and familiar were dove.

On the first day, we met up at the boat at noon, got our safety and dive briefings done, setup our gear, had lunch, and began the trip to the exumas.

If You Need More Fireworks After Last Night

Tons of fireworks shows around here last night in preparation for Independence Day. People may have run out already.

If you need more, before you go out to buy some, understandthat  you can get all sorts of different color fireworks, as seen below, based on the wonders of chemistry:

Have a good one, be safe, soak all fired firework tubes in water for at least 24 hours before throwing them in the trash.  Don't burn your house down, and may you end up with the same number of fingers you started out with as you celebrate our Independence Day in the traditional manner.

Happy 250th Independence Day!

The Semiquincentennial (say that ten times fast) of American Independence is today.

250 Years ago a new nation was declared that brought forth a  constitutional republican form of government with the promise of individual rights, liberty, and freedom and the pursuit (but not the guarantee) of happiness the word had not seen before.

I'd say the United States of America has done well to meet that promise and even though many mistakes occurred over time, this nation continually corrected those mistakes, as it continues to do so now.

There is a serious level of manufactured political division, as seen in the surveys that show 93% of Republicans being proud or very proud of our country as opposed to only 45% of Democrats.

But for all that division, every American should still be proud to be an American for the blessings this country has given you, even as you have the right here not to be proud.

250 years of the greatest country in the world.  Here's to 250 more!

Democrats Love Illegals So Much

They will even pardon convicted pedophile rapists to stop them from being deported.

Yes, really.

The Daily Mail:   Minnesota's Democrat Governor Tim Walz pardons illegal migrant PEDOPHILE who raped girl aged 10 to stop the predator from being deported

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has pardoned an illegal immigrant who was convicted of raping a ten-year-old child to stop him from being deported.

The Democrat was part of a three-person panel that granted clemency to Tou Lue Vang, 42, who was set to be sent back to Laos due to his horrific child sex crimes.

Vang admitted to repeatedly sexually abusing the child for four years when he pleaded guilty to first-degree criminal sexual conduct in 2006, and at the time he justified his actions by claiming it is a 'cultural thing' to 'marry and have sex with girls as young as 12.'

This gets even worse as the scumbag had been given a reduced sentence and no jail time on the condition that he was to be deported.

His plea deal allowed him to avoid jail time but face deportation, a fate he has now been spared by Walz and the other two members of the panel, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison and Minnesota's Chief Supreme Court Justice, Natalie Hudson.

Yep, they really did it, and let a pedophile walk.

AG Keith Ellison even defended it and compared the pardon to those made by Trump - which is quite the what-aboutism. The reaosning seems to be since Trump pardons people, Ellison can pardon pedophiles.  Quite an argument, that.

So yep, the Party that keeps yelling "Epstein"-- even when it is clear that had Trump been in the files having done anything criminal it would have been leaked by Democrats long ago now, seems to have no problem pardoning pedos.

Funny, that.

Rapper Reinforces His Rap Sheet

And his rap sheet goes back as far as 2001.

One might say that Detroit Rapper Brian Brown has methed up.

The Detroit News: Detroit rap mogul Brian Brown gets in fresh trouble with feds

A Detroit music mogul, once described in a sealed federal search warrant as one of the largest heroin dealers in the Midwest who used his rap label to launder drug money, is in fresh trouble along with his wife after being accused of heading a nationwide drug ring linked to Mexico's Sinaloa Cartel.

Right after being celebrated for turning his life around, post-incarceration (for apparently a far too-short sentence that did not, in fact, cause him to reform) too: One West: Reformed Detroit Drug Kingpin-Turned-Grammy-Nominated Music Mogul Releases Documentary, Detailing His Unconventional Life Of Crime And Transformation Into The World Of Entertainment

Who knows, maybe his turning point was going from heroin to meth?

Happy Canada Day!

This blog regularly points out the myriad problems and failures Canada is currently going through - political, economic, social, health care, and more.

These failures are due to its woeful political class and large population of even more woeful progressives and CaWFULS.

But, it is still good and appropriate to celebrate the good things that our neighbor to the north (and if you live in Michigan its also our neighbor to the south) has to offer.

Canada, at its best, is a beautiful country with a great bunch of people with solid work ethics,  great beer, and a high-trust society with individual rights that offers a level of freedom that comes close to our own in most areas, at least when the aforementioned politicians, progressives, and CaWFULS aren't trying to tear that down.

So here's to Canada's 159th Canada Day.

Ashura Thing It Is Not A Pro-Diversity March

Muslims were marching hrough the streets of Dearborn for the festival of Ashura.

Lots of religious themed flags, lots of Lebanese flags, what appears to be a Hezbollah flag, were all flying in the breeze.

Not a single American Flag in sight.

Blaze Media: 'No American flags': Calls for remigration intensify after latest Muslim demonstration in Dearborn, Michigan

But there was, as expected, plenty of anti-semitism on  display:

Middle East Forum: Dearborn Heights Mosque Demonizes Israel and Its Supporters for Ashura

All the standard anti-Semitic tropes of Jews controlling the America, controlling the world and all that. Including hilariously enough, blaming Jews for the Battle of Karbala, which was strictly a Muslim on Muslim affair where those who would become the Shiites Muslims got defeated by those who would become the Sunni Muslims, with no Jews involved.

It's ashura thing that they're not pro-America, and not much for tolerance and diversity, except when used to suit them, now isn't it?

Livonia Says No To Teen Takeover

Summer is here, and the hoodrats are out and about, trying their best to ruin the fun for law abiding citizens.

A bunch of "Teens " decided to put on Facebook a pronouncement that they would be taking over Livonia's Spree fair.

The City of Livonia PD and The City have stated clearly that it is not going to happen.

The Detroit News:  Livonia Spree tries fee, rule to limit crowds. Takeover threat blasted

The Detroit Free Press: Livonia police warn of zero tolerance at Spree ahead of teen takeover

"Teens" like these are why we can't have nice things.

This area has already lost the Saint Mary's Polish Country Fair (after it lasted for 50 years) due to "Teens" running wild and causing problems, before these actions were fashionably and disarmingly called a Teen Takeover.

Good on the Livonia and the Livonia PD for proactively not putting up with a "teen takeover" threat.

Verdict Is In But Not Out On The Pacific Palisades Fire Arsonist (Update: Apparently Not So Much)

The jury has reached a verdict ion the case of Jonathan Rinderknecht, the left wing arsonist who set the Lachman fire that became the Palisades Fire in California.

NBC News: Jury reaches a verdict in trial over deadly, destructive Palisades Fire

Jonathan Rinderknecht, 30, faced three federal charges of destruction of property by means of fire, arson affecting property used in interstate commerce and timber set afire for the January 2025 Palisades Fire.

The former Uber driver pleaded not guilty in October and faces up to 45 years in prison. Prosecutors argued that Rinderknecht intentionally and maliciously started a previous fire on a popular hiking trail known as Skull Rock on Jan. 1, called the Lachman Fire, that smoldered for days before metastasizing into the giant Palisades Fire six days later.

“On Jan. 1, 2025, Jonathan Rinderknecht started a fire on a hill in the Pacific Palisades,” prosecutor Danbee C. Kim said in closing statements. “He was angry all the time. He believed he was enslaved by the wealthy. He didn’t understand why the ‘rich losers’ and the ‘motherf----- at the top’ had it all.”

In short, he bought fully into the DSA and progressives propaganda, tropes, and bromides about the rich and apparently acted on it, as shown in his digital footprint showing his researching about setting fires at being at the ignition point of the fire right before it was reported.

As of now, they still haven't released the verdict.

Well, update a few hours later

The Narrator: They do not, in fact have verdict

Instead, they have a deadlocked and potentially hung jury.

The same link above now goes to this page: NBC News:       Jury deadlocked in trial over deadly, destructive Palisades Fire

Guess they called that one a tad early.  We will see if they are hung tomorrow or can get to a verdict.

Further Update:  It ended in a hung jury and a mistrial.   New trial is set for October.

Of Course She Didn't Vote For It

Every Michigan representative, Republican and Democrat alike voted on a bill to fight organized retail crime and cargo theft and impose more severe sentences on the criminals performing those acts.

All except one that is.

You guessed it, the rep who voted against it was, of course, Rep Rashida Tlaib (D-Dearbornistan).

The Detroit News:  Michigan lawmakers join push to cut cargo theft, gift card scams

All but one member of Michigan's U.S. House delegation — progressive Detroit Democrat Rashida Tlaib — supported the CORCA bill when it passed the chamber in May.
"I voted against this bill because it would vastly expand the power of Trump’s Department of Homeland Security to surveil and criminalize our communities," Tlaib said in a statement.

Too many of her constituents are criminals and she clearly doesn't like the idea of cracking down on international criminals that she supports, and not leaving these large scale thefts in the hands of soft-on-crime local prosecutors that slap them on the wrist as they steal billions from law-abiding Americans.

If You Haven't Figured It Out Yet - Don't Trust And Do Verify

Ol' Honest Abe certainly knew what he was talking about when it comes to AI.

The Detroit Free Press: Attorney who used AI to cite fake cases sanctioned by Michigan court

The Michigan Court of Appeals has ordered financial sanctions against an attorney and referred him to the Attorney Grievance Commission for using artificial intelligence to cite non-existent cases in an appeal he filed.

As an attorney, contrary to the general public's belief, you cannot make stuff up to support your case, nor can you use AI to make stuff up to support your case.

That constitutes a fraud upon the court and is very much disfavored.

We've talked about this before, indeed a few times now, and some attorneys who certainly should absolutely know better by now are just not getting it.

Whether it is laziness, or falling for something that sounds so good for your case that it has to be true, or the desire to win at all costs, its a major problem and needs to stop.

When it comes to AI, or any other source that you plan to submit to the court,  you do not trust it and you need to verify that it is correct and properly represents the proposition you claim you are are using it for before you file it.

This is especially so for the siren call provided by hallucinogenic AI responses that just happen to perfectly provide the exact support for your case you asked from it.

The AI isn't going to be sanctioned for making stuff up, You as the attorney using it without verifying it will be, and properly so.

Race Card A Tad Overdrawn There

A homeowner in upscale Birmingham on a residential street rented his pool out to a third party who then rented it out to another third party for a pool party (this is a tad unusual). It drew over a hundred and fiftypeople, with  people gathering on the street, dancing on cars, and was loud, disturbing the neighborhood and blocking traffic.

The Detroit News: Raucous Birmingham pool party terrifies neighbors, violates ordinance

Some media-blurred video of the party scene here.

This led to neighbors not being happy about the disturbance, and understandably so.

The Detroit News: Birmingham pool party homeowner to appeal citations, vows to party on

The homeowner initially denied anything happened warranting such a response.

And of course, after that denial, he has to play the race card as the reason why he was cited for the disturbance:

"Unfortunately, I am Black, I’m in Birmingham, and I throw parties, so I get the police called on me almost every time I have people over here," he said. "It comes with the territory,

The race card is getting a tad overdrawn here. Its not cause he os Blakc, its because he held a raucous party in a nice residential neighborhood, not the hood, and apparently invited the hoodrats to attend:

On that note, the homeowner said he doesn't appreciate comments on social media about Saturday's partygoers, who were Black. He said he's seen people on social media call them "animals."

He then said he would continue:

Asked if he'll keep throwing pool parties in the future, the homeowner said he will — just not as large, crowded and raucous as the one on Saturday.

"I live here. I pay taxes. I have a right to have gatherings here just like anyone else," he said.

So much for the nothing happened initial defense, now it is he'll make sure to be not as crowded next time.

Since the race card didn't work,  he next stated he would keep doing it, but at least he then did a half-ass sorry, not sorry, apology.

Click on Detroit: Birmingham pool party homeowner breaks silence, apologizes for neighborhood disruption

In a statement released on Facebook on Friday (June 19), the homeowner (who wants to remain anonymous) acknowledged that guests leaving the June 13 gathering caused significant traffic congestion and inconvenienced nearby residents.

“Regardless of how the event began, I understand that many neighbors were inconvenienced, and for that I am genuinely sorry,” the homeowner said. “I value this community and want to be a good neighbor.”

The homeowner said future events would include additional planning, oversight, and crowd-management measures to prevent similar issues.

It is the "I did it, it happened even though I claim it didn't happen, and I'm gonna do it again" kind of apology.

A trifecta of fail: Starting with the Dindu Nuffin, Followed up with the Race Card, c;losing out with the sorry not sorry fake apology.

Very classy, and I'm sure his neighbors don't appreciate it one bit.

Juneteenth

As much as Democrats made Juneteenth a national holiday in order to attempt to maintain America's racial wounds and keep Blacks on the Democrat plantation by pandering to the grievance mongers, we should instead celebrate it in line with its original intent:

Juneteenth commemorates Republicans taking action and freeing slaves from their Democrat masters.

Democrats have been mad at Republicans ever since.

The Flag Of The Only County In The Middle East

Where gays and trannies don't get flying lessons by being thrown off buildings, is now considered by progressive LGBTQEIEIO idiots to be a "hateful symbol".

The Detroit News:  Michigan LGBTQ group labels Israel flag 'harmful symbolism'

Apparently the mere presence of Israeli flag at the pride march caused trauma and, per the director of the pride festival, "real harm" to gay Palestinians, Lebanese, Syrian, and other LGBTQs from those hotbeds of toleration for LGBT rights.

This is, of course, totally unlike the trauma and "real harm" they might experience of being thrown off buildings or being stoned to death for being LGBTQ in those hotbeds of toleration like Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria.

Democrats Becoming The Party Of Terrorism?

Jane's Law says it well: “The devotees of the party in power are smug and arrogant. The devotees of the party out of power are insane.”

When five out of eight arrested terrorists in a single case are not just progressives but full fledged members of the Democratic party, it certainly constitutes evidence that the Democrats, the party out of power, has indeed gone insane, or at least back to their historic roots.

The Detroit News: 5 UM threat case suspects were Democratic Party members, ex-chair says

Yes, Democrat party members are the majority of the terrorist suspects. Five Democrat party members, and one of them not just a member but a paid campaign staffer for US Senate Candidate Abdul El-Sayed.

Well, Democrats are currently busy supporting Hamas, Hezbollah, the Mullahs of Iran, BLM, and any other anti-American group they can find so it's really not a reach for the party membership to get hands-on, now is it?

The UK Is Probably Wishing It Had An Effective Navy Right About Now

The Guardian: Russian frigate fires warning shots at British yacht in Channel

Yes, in the English Channel, a Russian warship fired rounds at a British yacht that was getting too close  for the Russian's liking.

A Russian warship fired warning shots within a few hundred metres of a British pleasure yacht sailing across the Channel on Tuesday morning amid a period of heightened tensions between London and Moscow.

The rare incident took place at 11.40am more than 20 miles south of the Isle of Wight and less than 40 miles north of Normandy, France, when the yacht, identified as the private vessel Bright Future, sailed close to the Admiral Grigorovich and ignored at least one warning.

“We assess that this is an isolated incident and not linked to the UK’s interception of the Smyrtos this weekend. HMS Mersey has been monitoring the Russian vessel and support has been provided to the crew of the yacht. ”British sources said initial indications were that more than one shot was fired by Russian sailors after the yacht had got close to the heavily armed frigate. “Following attempts to contact a British vessel in the channel, the Grigorovich fired warning shots. These were not aimed at the vessel and were an attempt to prevent a possible collision,” the Ministry of Defence said.

Do note that the only ship the Royal Navy could manage to have in the area,  HMS Mersey is a fishery protection patrol vessel and badly over-matched by the Russian Frigate.

That the Royal Navy can't even sortie a frigate to shadow the Russian frigate in  the English Channel is a sad commentary on the state of the Royal Navy.

Britannia used to rule the waves, now it can't even rule its own home waters.

Killer Behind Murder Of Five US Soldiers Is Now Kaput

Fox News: IDF announces elimination of Hezbollah commander behind murder of 5 American soldiers

ELIMINATED: Ali Musa Daqduq, a senior Hezbollah commander who held a series of 5 senior positions within Hezbollah," the IDF hailed on X. "Daqduq played a central role in advancing terrorist attacks and combat operations against Israel and IDF soldiers. In 2007, he orchestrated the kidnapping and murder of 5 American soldiers."

Good riddance to very bad rubbish.  Daqduq was behind the killing of five US troops in Karbala, Iraq in 2007.  Yes, Hezbollah, Iran, and Iraqi insurgents were working together to kill Americans then, and they still are now.

The murderer of CPT Brian Scott Freeman; 1LT Jacob Noal Fritz; SPC Jonathan Bryan Chism; PFC Shawn Patrick Falter; and PVT Jonathon Miles Millican has finally met justice.

Terrorist Supporters Adopt A Road

Right along the way where, just a few months ago, a Hezbollah affiliated terrorist did a vehicle ramming attack at Temple Israel, a group that was until now unknown has apparently "adopted a road" and got the Road Commission to put up these signs:

Purely an attempt to intimidate, with the sign being placed right in the central area of the Jewish community here, right by a synagogue that had recently been attacked by an Arab terrorist.

There is no filed assumed name for the group in Oakland County, nor is there a state-level entity actually formed on record for this group. It does not legally exist as an organization.

We will have to see if the "group" whoever they are,  ever show up to do the required twice per year cleanups as required for this propaganda stunt.  My bet is they're not showing up as simply getting the signs up was the point.

So, in addition to the myriad of potholes, it seems we may now need to worry about IEDs on this stretch of road.

Update:  The signs were taken down as of this morning (Monday June 15) and the Oakland County Road Commission is promising to review its "process" as to how the signs were ever approved to be issued and placed in the first place to a non-existent group.

BCBS Insurance Change Major Threat To Michigan Mental Health Care

Right when we need more mental health treatment in this state, Blue Cross Blue Shield is about to serious mess up insurance and thus the provision for mental health services in this state.

Click on Detroit: ‘Devastating’: Michigan mental health care workers concerned BCBSM billing change could cut access to counselors

BCBS is the big dog in Michigan health insurance coverage, and they run the vast majority of insurance coverage for people in this state.  This change to mental health billing and in essence not covering therapy by limited license practitioners is going to massively reduce the number of eligible practitioners to be able to be provide treatment ,and prevent limited license practitioners from getting paid for hours they do in practice before they are fully licensed. And they can't ever get fully licensed without doing a ton of direct patient hours.

We already have a mental health crisis in this state and not enough practitioners to handle the load, and this is going to make it worse.

More mentally ill people and everyday people in crisis not getting covered treatment and thus not getting treatment - what could possibly go wrong?

One would think the government might intervene in such decisions,  given BCBS' almost monopoly power in this state, but given the governor we have, don't count on it.

That's because BCBS has Governor Whitmer in their back pocket.  Indeed, that would be an understatement.  Her father was the former CEO of Blue Cross, and that's not the least of the ties.

Heck, she was practically installed as governor by BCBS.

Don't expect the governor to step in against this destructive coverage decision anytime soon.

When it comes to the Gov's claims about being for "the people" of this state, the people sure take a back seat to the largest insurance company in the state.
