More Than About Time And Still Rather Late

The Biden Administration will finally allow vaccinated Canadians to travel by land into the US.

Starting sometime in early November.

The Detroit News: U.S. will open land border with Canada, Mexico to vaccinated foreign travelers in early November

The revised policy comes after months of pressure from lawmakers, local officials and separated families on both sides of the border left frustrated by the seemingly never-ending border closure. Canada reopened its border to vaccinated U.S. travelers over two months ago.

More than about damn time, and why wait until sometime in early November?  More bureaucratic inertia, or just standard Biden-administration incompetence?

It was ridiculous not to open the land border in August especially as this administration has permitted if not outright welcomed millions of untested and Covid-positive illegals flooding in over our southern border.

The plan, overdue as it is,  sensibly only requires proof of vaccination and not a Covid PCR test within 72 hours of travel - at least not yet in its current iteration.

It would be nice if Canada adopts that policy as well as it would make travel a  lot more convenient.

In other words, you have to show your papers.

The heck of it is, if they say show your papers please, do you show them, or do you just not go?
The other question is, if the government attempts to do this to us within our own borders, how are we, as people who want to remain free, going to handle this? I mean, for most of us, the thought of taking up arms and attacking some governmental institution is simply not going to happen. Nor is remaining isolated within our own homes.
It puts things into perspective real quick.

And I have to confess that I live in a state that has formally said "Eff off" to the federal government. And I live in a county that has a sheriff and many members of local government who are active members of the county Tea Party and refuse to give in to pressure.

ProudHillbilly: You already have to show your papers at the border. At least this way they're getting things opened up, even though its still a massive overreaction to a virus with a less than 1% lethality rate that is already endemic in both countries. Curiously they're not requiring proof of vaccination or lack of infection with so many other diseases.

PigPen51: It's up to the potential traveler to decide and weigh the cost/benefits of doing so. Internally they're already pushing showing proof of vaccination to get into various places. Unfortunately fear and government taking advantage of that fear to overreach is driving this train.

ProudHillbilly: Yep, being trapped in Michigan we still have enough pols to pushback against massive overreach so no formal show your vac papers here, at least not yet.
