You Can Take The State Fair Out Of The Hood

But you can't keep the hood-rats out of the State Fair.

Fox2 Detroit: Michigan State Fair shooting: 14-year-old killed, another teen hurt

According to police, two 14-year-old Detroit boys were shot in the parking lot of the Suburban Collection Showplace just before 10 p.m.

Novi police said that there is no further threat to the community, though they are still searching for the suspects. Police believe the person or people responsible knows the victims and it was a targeted attack.

The State Fair was moved out of Detroit to Novi, but less-than-law-abiding Detroiters have followed.

Yet anther reason we can't have nice things, and why it is risky to go to fairs or festivals at night in the environs of Detroit.

I carry all the time, 7/24/365. On Friday, my wife and I attended the opening of the 163rd Woodstock Fair in eastern Kommiecticut. There are signs posted everywhere prohibiting all weapons and a heavy police presence. I conceal carried right in anyway. While the fair itself is very safe, we still have to walk out to the open field for parking. And what if I need to do an errand before or after? Since there are no metal detectors, my firearm goes undetected and sitting safely in my holster harms no one.
