The Motive May Never Be Known

The killer wore a sweatshirt that said "Property of Allah".

He also had an Islamic Republic of Iran flag t-shirt on under the sweatshirt.

CBS News: Texas gunman wore "Property of Allah" hoodie, Iran flag T-shirt during attack

This clearly means his motive may never be known. It is a Complete mystery.

Indeed, per the FBI,  the Bureau is searching hard for a possible motive and possible link to terrorism for this Islamic immigrant.

The Detroit News:  FBI probes Texas mass shooting for terrorism link

I daresay Director Kash Patel needs to remove Agent Magoo and his fellow Biden-era agents that can't identify Islamic terrorism  --when it is literally on the killer's shirt -- from the investigation.

Illegals Doing Murders Americans Won't Do

Yet another mass killing that doesn't fit the narrative and will drop form the news soon.

I mean it was a good starting narrative: Some whacko in Texas kills neighbors when they ask him to stop shooting his AR-15 in the part of his backyard near their property.

Reports then identified the shooter as Hispanic, which started to chip away at the narrative.

Next, reports indicated his immigration status was "unclear" (sadly that story was later "updated" and that reference erased) - that's called a clue.

Now that he has been arrested we  find out that, per the Detroit News Sheriff: Suspected Texas gunman caught hiding under laundry:

The alleged shooter is a Mexican national who has been deported four times, according to U.S. immigration officials. The gunman was first deported in March 2009 and last in July 2016. He was also deported in September 2009 and January 2012.

So he wasn't just illegal, he was repeatedly deported as a criminal illegal.

We also find out that 4 of the 5 victims were also illegals, with the fifth victim arriving illegally but getting her status "adjusted" afterwards.

A secure border sure would be nice, now wouldn't it?  After all we really don't want illegals doing murders Americans won't do, now do we?

"No guns for illegals" is hardly going to be a good rallying cry for the gun banners, now is it?

After all, that's already the law.  But, the progressive gun banners also argue that no person is illegal, so it's a bit of a conundrum for them.

More Lies And Half-Truths From Journos About Firearms And NRAAM

Journalists continue to repeat the false statement that attendees at the NRA Annual Meeting are not allowed to carry at the convention.

This is false, they know or darn well should know by now it's false, yet they keep running this falsehood every year and each year they get called out for lying about it yet again.

The Detroit News: Juggling Act: If lawmakers don't act on gun laws now, then when?

The National Rifle Association, meanwhile, will hold its annual convention this weekend 4 ½  hours east of Ulvade in Houston. Attendees, ironically, won't be permitted to carry firearms during the convention, according to USA Today.

This is simply false, and this journo is simply passing along the falsehood from USA Today when she could, you know, fact check it herself assuming she doesn't already know she's lying.

The fact is, Attendees and NRA members can and do carry at the NRA Annual meeting.

The only limitations to carry at NRA Annual Meeting events is when the US Secret Service declares an area of the convention a gun-free zone due to a dignitary being present such as former President Trump or others, and then it is only for a defined area and not the entire convention hall.   Or, it for example if it is for an ancillary concert at a facility separate from the convention hall that does not permit firearms, then you can;t break the rules of that facility.

Otherwise, you absolutely can carry at the NRA Annual Meeting and convention.

Would be nice if journos stopped lying about that, as well as so many other things they lie about or tell half-truths when it comes to firearms.

Perhaps The Stupidest Thing President Biden Has Said To Date.

Biden on the Texas Synagogue Attack:

"I don't think there is sufficient information to know why he targeted that synagogue why he insisted on the release of someone who's been in prison for over 10 years... why he was using anti-Semitic & anti-Israeli comments."

Unbelievable.

This ridiculous political correctness and dancing around avoiding any mention of the motivations of  Islamic terrorism and ideology is an absolute farce.

Biden has no hesitation making unsubstantiated allegations in other situations, even when he's shown to be wrong later. But, when there's plenty of evidence and its a Muslim attack on Jews he doesn't want to make any conclusions and suddenly lacks sufficient information.

Yes, it's an actual quote from Biden and the President can be watched saying it on Twitter.

Interesting Reactions To Events, Aren't They?

Mr. B of In The Middle Of The Right sent me a link in the comments to the Daily Mail a newspaper with some very good coverage of the Texas Synagogue attack and the reaction among the terrorist's fellow adherents back in Ol' Blighty, who while many are now British subjects, are no exactly what you'd first think of when the stereotypical British subject come to mind.

Of course it's blamed on the attackers "mental health" and his family are condemning the crime but of course throwing some nice and false moral relativism in:

'Obviously our priority will be to get him back to the UK for his funeral prayers although we have been warned it could take weeks.

'We would also like to add that any attack on any human being be it a Jew, Christian or Muslim etc is wrong and should always be condemned.

'It is absolutely inexcusable for a Muslim to attack a Jew or for any Jew to attack a Muslim, Christian, Hindu vice versa etc.'

Nice relativism and cute deflection there.

Interestingly, and while given coverage what is rather unremarked upon is the reaction of the Blackburn, England Muslim communityfrom whence the attacker came to the event and his death:

One doesn't typically comment that a terrorist has "sadly departed from this temporary world" and one typically does not welcome a criminal to the "highest ranks of Paradise" now does one? Highest ranks of Paradise in Islam are reserved for those fighting Jihad, aren't they? Interesting reaction from the Blackburn Muslim community, that.

Dear AG Nessel: Better To Remain Silent And Be Thought A Fool Than To Speak And Remove All Doubt, And Remiove All Doubt You Did

But with Nessel there is no doubt that she is indeed a fool.  A politically useful one for mouthing Democrat talking points mind you, but a fool all the same.

An hour after it had already been announced that the terrorist in the Hostage situation at the Texas synagogue was demanding the release of a convicted Islamic terrorist, AG Nessel was busy publicly worrying the attack was a possible hate crime caused by a white supremacist.

Washington Free Beacon: Michigan’s Dana Nessel Speculates ‘White Supremacy’ to Blame for Texas Synagogue Terrorist Attack

Why exactly is our state's AG going into a hypothetical contrary to existing evidence during an actual hostage situation in another state?  Why is she (and Psaki, the media (attacker is a British citizen" - way to bury the lede, wot?), and the FBI for that matter) so quick to try to distract attention from a clearly Islamic act of terrorism?

I will note she has yet to make any correction to her inane statement nor to specifically condemn Islamic Terrorism.

Hostage Situation At Synagogue In Texas

So an Islamic terrorist, allegedly Muhammad Siddiqui who is demanding release of his sister Aafia Siddiqui who is sentenced on terror charges for 86 years for trying to kill US Military and FBI agents in Afghanistan who is being held in a federal jail inn Texas.

Star-Telegram: 1 hostage released from Colleyville synagogue; rabbi among 3 still held inside; negotiations continue

There's also a Michigan connection to this sotry.  The Rabbi currently being held hostage with some of his congregants grew up in Lansing Michigan and was in the same Jewish youth group as my own Rabbi and they're good friends. It's a small world.

Praying and hoping the situation is resolved and the hostages are all released unharmed.

UpdateFBI's Hostage Rescue Team performed a dynamic entry and the terrorist is now dead and all hostages are freed.

So Texas, How's The Preview Of The Green New Deal Working Out For You?

So it turns out windmills don't handle icing conditions very well. Solar doesn't do well when covered in snow or in overcast conditions either.

MSN :   Texas electric grid operator says frozen wind turbines are hampering state's power output: report

About half of Texas' wind power generation capacity has been put on ice amid the state's historic winter storm, according to a report.

Oops. Add to that a sudden demand for natural gas for heating instead of electricity generation and there's not enough capacity to provide power.

It's definitely a cautionary tale of over-reliance on unreliable sources of energy such as solar and wind.    It's another cautionary tale of the failure to maintain and build an energy infrastructure able to keep up with the demand and have enough at the margins to handle an emergency.

Pushing for the Green New Deal and not building reliable nuclear power and clean coal plants instead of expensive and unreliable wind and solar are going to end up putting us all in the dark and cold.

And We Should Care Why, Exactly?

In an attempt to tie on a self-aggrandizing announcement from an already retired professor in Texas to the current bout of legislation that to remove the concealed-pistol-free zones in Michigan, The Detroit Free Press happily notes he had worked at MSU at some point.

The Detroit Free Press: Ex-MSU professor: Guns have no place in education

A former Michigan State University professor says he’ll no longer teach at the University of Texas because of a new law allowing concealed firearms on campus.

Daniel Hamermesh taught at MSU from 1973 until 1993 and said he believes guns have no place in an educational setting. He adds that arming students does little to help faculty and others feel safe. In fact, he argues it does the opposite.......A bill calling for similar allowances in Michigan is currently before state legislators.

Senate Bill 442 would allow concealed pistols in gun-free zones, including in classrooms and dormitories. It would replace the existing statue allowing open-carry in these environments and would bar the practice in gun-free zones. The bill was approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee 4-1 earlier this month.

Frankly an opinion from a professor who has already retired announcing he's goign to stop teaching all of a year early because of a decision he doesn't like on a purely emotional basis in a state far, far, away doesn't really weigh much on the question here, or even in Texas for that matter.

This is unfortunately the standard anti-gun claim stated yet again that somehow allowing law-abiding citizens to carry guns places will result in "blood in the streets", or on the blackboards, what have you.

Quick news flash for the prof et al.: Not allowing law-abiding citizens to carry guns in classrooms has so far had no deterrence whatsoever preventing criminals and those bent on mayhem from doing so, with well-known horrific consequences that results when packed classrooms full of the unarmed meets someone intending on murder, or in countless simple robberies and assaults as the unarmed get robbed around campus after leaving the gun free zones.

Since mandating that people in schools must be wholly unarmed and helpless hasn't worked so far, how about trying something different and more effective?

Money Can Buy You Tricks, And Some Junk Science To Keep You Out Of The Clink

So in Texas, if you've got lots of money, you can drive drastically drunk, kill 4 people and then get...10 years probation.

The Detroit Free Press: Texas teen's defense in fatal drunken-driving crash: Affluenza

A judge’s decision to give 16-year-old Ethan Couch 10 years of probation for the fatal accident sparked outrage from relatives of those killed and has led to questions about the defense strategy. A psychologist testified in Couch’s trial in a Fort Worth juvenile court that as a result of “affluenza,” the boy should not receive the maximum 20-year prison sentence prosecutors were seeking.

And here I was thinking Wayne County, where a conviction of committing assault with intent to commit murder gets you probation was the definition of messed up.

Texas uses the Daubert standard for expert testimony. It's quite hard to see how a diagnosis of "Affluenza" (in reality the the name of a movie about how spoiling kids rotten leads to bad consequences), which is not a recognized psychological nor psychiatric diagnosis by any means, could pass the Daubert test to be admissible as evidence. Methinks the family's case of "affluenza" bought them the best junk science and "justice" money could buy.

Let's note what 16-year-old Ethan Couch did that night:

Authorities said the teen and friends were seen on surveillance video stealing two cases of beer from a store. He had seven passengers in his Ford F-350, was speeding and had a blood-alcohol level three times the legal limit, according to trial testimony. His truck slammed into the four pedestrians, killing Brian Jennings, 43, Breanna Mitchell, 24, Shelby Boyles, 21, and her mother, Hollie Boyles, 52.

Texas justice failed, and failed very, very badly this case.

Fatal Knife Attack In A Texas GFZ

Yet again, it sounds like a mentally unstable individual wreaking mayhem in a gun free zone.

Detroit Free Press: Nurse fatally stabbed while protecting patients

Gail Sandidge, a nurse in the Ambulatory Surgery Center of Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview, Texas, was pronounced dead Tuesday morning after the fatal stabbing attack by a man who hospital officials said was at the facility to visit his mother.

. . .

Four others were injured in the attack. They are: hospital employee Karen Bobo, and hospital visitors Harris Teel, Teresa Allison and Melissa Simms, Longview police said. Bobo and one of the visitors was treated and released, Altmiller said, while a second visitor remained in critical condition and a third was in good condition.

It's a very good thing that the Medical Center bans the concealed carry of handguns and had a Texas 30.06 no handgun carry sign posted prohibiting handgun carry on the premises.

But for that sign, some person might have gotten hurt bad, or some bad person might have gotten hurt, or something.

Two Governors, One Who Knows How To Hold 'Em, One Who Knows How to Fold 'Em

In contrast to Spineless Snyder, Governor Rick Perry gets it:

Instapundit: STANDING UP AGAINST HYSTERIA: Gov. Rick Perry speaks out against gun control hysteria, approves carrying in schools.
