Focusing on numismatics, and commenting upon current legal and world events, not to mention asides into the world of scuba diving, flying, and fine firearms.
Under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Canadian political correctness has run rather amok.
Tolerance, if not outright celebration, of the least tolerant has apparently become a sacred mission.
While most Western countries are rather concerned with the return of Islamists who left their nations to fight the infidel for ISIS, Trudeau seems to have taken a page from Chip Diller in Animal House:
Yep, Trudeau figures it'll be all rainbows and unicorns, and will let them return.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told a Hamilton town hall Wednesday that despite concerns over returning ISIS fighters, Canadians were safe in their country and could rely on the security and intelligence services to keep them that way.
As the war against ISIS winds down, the government has said it's aware of about 180 individuals "with a nexus to Canada" who had travelled overseas to join ISIS and other groups — and another 60 who had returned to Canada.
Unlike Canada's allies in Iraq and Syria, who are directly targeting their own ISIS fighters before they can return to their countries in the West, Canada's Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale said "Canada does not engage in death squads."
Goodale said Canada and is instead focused on monitoring returning fighters and helping them to reintegrate, when possible, into Canadian society.
Sixty have already returned and another 180 to go. I somehow think on their return they'll be focused on more the disintegration of Canadian society rather than integration.
Since Canada fought against ISIS, those Canadians who fought for ISIS would in a less politically correct and progressive-controlled time not be welcomed back with promises of integration (think welfare payments and other goodies like housing) but tried for treason, and rightly so.
Officials said Akram Musleh, 18, attempted to board a bus from Indianapolis to New York, where they say he planned to fly to Morocco on his way to territory controlled by ISIS. Court documents say he then planned to join the group.
Not to worry, he first came to the attention of the FBI in 2013 when he was charmingly posting ISIS videos to YouTube:
The FBI discovered after finding the videos that Musleh was a student at Brownsburg High School. The FBI met with school officials and Musleh at the school on December 11, 2013. He told them that a close family member introduced him to such videos, which he would watch at home, according to court documents. He said he used the videos to "further his understanding of the history of Islam."
Court documents show the school and the FBI took steps to dissuade Musleh from engaging in radical extremism.
Apparently the talkin' to along the lines of "ISIS is bad, m'kay?" worked really, really well.
After the meeting and conversation he went off and purchased an ISIS flag and then photographed himself with it in 2015.
Then he started perusing the list of potential terrorist targets in Indiana and followed it up with looking for methods to peacefully understand Islam manufacture bombs, and he starts chatting with ISIS online, including receiving a rather interestingly, in light of recent events, suggestion that he perform a terrorist attack in Florida.
So yeah, the whole interview and dissuade approach apparently didn't take, much to everyone's surprise. Darn Hoosiers.
One of the big mysteries is who is paying this felon - convicted of 42 counts of fraud - to spread Islamist propaganda? Well, he's not talking, at least not yet.
Yes, the most inspirational cleric providing aid and comfort to Islamic terrorists is comfortably living in Dearborn and lying to the court.
The Obama Administration is fundamentally unserious about dealing with Islamic Terrorism and ISIS, heck they can't even say the I word, so dealing with a propagandist for the same is likely beyond their ken, and this will not end well.
OPSEC, this administration hasn't got it. Announcing the troop strength, date and location of an upcoming offensive for the world and the enemy to see is generally not considered a good practice.
My bet is the State Department is behind the announcement.
After all, In their view it's not a military offensive but a jobs fair, and they want to let all of ISIS know where they can submit their applications.
For the Obama administration, the situation is clearly desperate but not serious.
At a hearing on ISIL in Iraq and Syria on Tuesday, Sen. Barbara Boxer
(D-Calif.) expressed shock and dismay about a news report detailing
the terrorists' enslavement and sexual abuse of women and girls.
Boxer told a State Department human rights official that her staffers had just handed her "the most shocking article"
-- in Q&A format -- describing the circumstances in which
non-Muslim women and girls may be taken captive and raped by ISIL.
"This is disgusting stuff," Boxer told Tom Malinowski, an assistant
secretary for democracy, human rights and labor at the State
Department. She asked Malinowski to verify if the report was true. "If
this is real, people need to understand this," she said.
"So, this kind of thing is absolutely real," Malinowski responded.
"These things are happening. We have seen Daesh (ISIL) put out on its
social media, on its Web site...these kinds of justifications before.
It just shows the degree of depravity and just the baseness of the
ideology that is at the heart of this..."
I'm simply shocked that it took her this long to be shocked.
Remember, she's a Senator and Chair of the frickin' Senate Foreign Relations Committee and so supposedly well informed on world affairs and on top of things like ISIL. It's not like this is new information or anything.
Sadly, it appears she was far more focused on the domestic faux-war-on-women than the real one happening in the Levant.
Not to worry though, he still doesn't have a coherent strategy, and he certainly can't say the V word (victory) over Islamic extremists.
Apparently this is the closest to a statement we might get as to the strategy that isn't a strategy:
"We just have to push them back, and shrink their space, and go after their command and control, and their capacity, and their weapons, and their fueling, and cut off their financing, and work to eliminate the flow of foreign fighters," Obama told CBS in the interview taped Friday, according to excerpts released by the network.
And then what exactly, declare they're back to being a JV team and leave and ignore them until they cause another problem?
This is of course, assuming such a laundry list of nebulous and ill-defined goals can really be done without "boots on the ground" (Yes I know we have some on the ground now, but acording to Obama they don't count and aren't really there, there and aren't boots-boots.
I just hoping there's already some AF CCTs and 5th SFG boots on the ground effectively directing air strikes, but that may be too much to ask for.
Updated to add: Instapundit makes a heckuva good point:
"Obama: Intel officials underestimated ISIS. When things go well, it’s always “I, me, mine” with this guy. When things go badly, it’s always “they” who screwed up."
Yep, that's about the size of it. The buck always stops elsewhere for Obama, except when it's time to take credit for something.
“Turkey does not have a problem with ISIS,” Xelil said. “Sometimes they facilitate the transit of their fighters and even open the hospitals for their injured, while they do not allow [our] injured to cross and use their hospitals.”
Turkey would rather support ISIS to weaken the Kurds and expand Sunni Islam than fight ISIS. Methinks Kerry will be waiting for real aid and participation from Turkey for quite some time.
Hard on the heels of Scotland voting to remain in union with the United Kingdom, Tam links to a fascinating article of how a woman has left Scotland and off and joined ISIS and vow not to come back to the UK except to raise the banner of Islam.
That whole multiculturalism thing vs a melting pot seems to be really turning out citizens with a solid British identity now doesn't it? To be fair, there's also women mentioned in the article allegedly from Chicago - agin the whole throwing away of a melting pot and unified American identity in return for non-judgmental multicultural relativism hasn't been great here either, but Europe seems to be bearing the brunt for now.
Hmm, anyone else see the possibilities of a bargaining chip to trade for Soltoff? (Yeah I know, we don't do that, at least not yet. Instead, we graciously give our enemies platforms in our own country to wage war against us).
