Watched the Superbowl yesterday with friends.
The game had impressive defenses on both sides and the Patriot's offense couldn't rise to the occasion. Former Michigan State Spartan K-9 Ken Walker put in some serious work for the Seahawks to win but otherwise it did not feel like a particularly exciting game.
The half-time show was worse than the game.
All in Spanish, with lewd lyrics at that, complete with the Bad Bunny busily and repeatedly clutching his crotch, along with some shots of male dancers grinding on each other.
Not exactly representative of America.
It was, however, an interesting tale of Puerto Rican culture:
It showed Puerto Ricans' transition from working in the fields; to opening a bodega in New York City; then falling through a roof for some reason; and then getting shocked to death after trying to steal copper from a power line atop a pole - all the while grabbing your crotch with one hand (which could explain how you got shocked to death stealing copper) - and then marching with a bunch of Latin American countries' flags during the funeral for the dead thief.
That may not have been the actual story.
But, with everything only in Spanish* including the subtitles that seemed to be the best explanation for what was going on.
*except for Lady Gaga's lyrics -- and due to the sound mixing her lyrics did not really come through at all and could not be heard which may well have been deliberate.
In short, the half time show was not exactly directed to the Superbowl and football fan audience at all. Jay Z needs to turn over the half time show selection power to someone that actually gets the fans and football. Just saying.

And things like that are the reason I haven't watched a Superbowl, or for that matter a Pro football game, in close to 10 years. Bunch of overpaid thugs.
IMHO

The people who paid for it need to be shot.
Or failing that, at least beaten profusely.
This was part of the attempt to normalize things, make them mainstream. Rather than uphold traditional (and mainstream) American values...based upon white culture (that made America what it is) and instead undermine that culture with another lesser culture (in this case, Puerto Rican)...there's a reason that PR is a shithole.
But they want to make that and other cultures seem normal, and undermine the one that works....
It's a part of the long game to Make America Less.
Same folks that encourage unlimited and unvetted "Immigration" for the same reason.
I haven't watched a Superbowl for at least 15 years. Which is strange since I love football. But the NFL continues to change the game to where it is almost pointless.
They claim that they are making it safer for the players, and more fun for the fans. But to me it is more like they are trying to ensure their revenue stays up. The most recent change where they kickoff the way they do, unless they plan on an off side kick, at which time they have to inform the other team of their plan, is just one more incomprehensible thing that they have changed.
Being a baseball fan as well, I am still upset that they have something called the designated hitter rule. While it might see to make the game more interesting due to more offense, it takes away any strategy that managers used to have.
We even had the DH rule in high school when I played. What it did was force not the pitcher to skip batting, as the pitchers in high school are often among the better athletes, but force some poor soul to play the field but not bat in high school baseball.
The pitch clock in baseball was a concession to fans in a bid to make games faster, which might be a good thing, but it has it's bad points as well. This year it appears that they will use technology to help call balls and strikes, instead of letting the umpires do so. That again is going to take away from the integrity of the game.
I understand why they are doing these things, it all comes down to money in general and betting in particular. When a bad strike call can cost a big gambler a wad of dough, it is not hard to know just who is among the strongest voices calling for removal of the human being portion of the game.
One last point, that is about football. The league continues to, at least from a visual place, attempt to get rid of concussions of the players. It is a great thing, as I have had 5-6 concussions in high school football, and now have chronic daily migraines. But while the NFL does what it does, one only needs to watch two men or two women locked in a cage, beating the crap out of each other in the name of entertainment to get the idea that money trumps safety every time. MMA fighting is what they call it. I myself have never watched a single fight. It is certainly not the same thing as when I was young and was lucky enough to watch Muhammad Ali and some of his opponents if they were able to show it on broadcast television. I do remember listening to the AM radio late at night when after each round an announcer would come on and explain exactly what happened during the last round.
Of course back then I would have loved it if I was able to watch the ring girls parade around with the sign indicating the number of the upcoming round. But we can't always get what we want.
Ramble mode off. Sorry. Have a great week.
Watched the TPUSA halftime. It wasn't perfect, but 16 million flipped over and watched. That says something... And this may end Jay Z's lock on the Stupor Bowl halftime show.
