A Classic Hi Power

My FLGS had kindly transferred in for me this Fabrique Nationale Mk III  Hi Power

It's an Israeli contract FN Hi Power pistol.

Complete with Star of David marking.

I've been wanting one of these for a long time.  I remember when they first came in and I couldn't get one as none of my local dealers would do a transfer at the time, which sucked.

So I finally have one, and its rather nice,  Decent sights, a decent trigger even with the magazine safety in place.the MK III safety is easy to operate, and it feels good in the hand.

Nice to have this classic in the collection.  If the weather holds up. I may take it to the range this weekend.

I have never shot a Hi Power, but I have always heard excellent things about them. It seems that one either loves them or hates them, with no middle ground. Just like many other iconic pistols that we know, from the 1911 to .357 magnum revolvers.
I went to my twin brother's house today, and traded him a couple of pistols that I did not need for a very nice 30/40 Krag sporterized, made in 1998. Equipped with a peep sight and with a beautiful engraved wooden stock, in what I would call NRA very good condition, I gave a 30/40 Krag carbine of my dad's to one of my sons, after my dad passed. I used that gun to kill one of the deer that I have killed. I used shotguns most of the time, even though my area has always been an area where rifles are allowed, here on the west side of Michigan.
I am considering hunting this coming November again, after killing a spike horn 3 years ago with an 18" barrelled 12 gauge 870 clone. With the new slugs, it would shoot 4" groups at 100 yards when supported. But the rifle is more of a tip of the hat to my dad, a great man and the smartest uneducated person I have ever known.
