Today I went to Detroit to see the Blue Jays take on the Detroit Tigers.
The Jays went into today leading the series 3-0, and a sweep was expected.
Some fun in traffic, but made it there in good time.
I had got some decent last minute seats this morning in the 300 level behind home plate.
Had some fun wandering around the ballpark and getting lunch before the game began.
The game started off relatively slowly, when in the first seven innings the Tigers only had three hits, but one of those hits was the Tigers knocking in a 3-run homer.
The Tigers then knocked in more runs in the eighth inning - seven of them - to none by the Jays.
The Jays then woke up at the top of the ninth and knocked in 4 runs before the last out being a strike-out at the plate.
So, no sweep for the Jays.
While a relativity slow-moving game, it was a very hot game with the temperature in the low 90s and the 300 level was right in the sun. Even with sunscreen, I managed to catch some sunburn. I also managed to get dehydrated even after drinking (water and pop) during the game and even taking two sun breaks during the game.
Drank a ton of water when I got back from the game and felt a lot better.
Still, that was a fun experience to watch some baseball live.

It is funny, in high school when I played sports, I loved to watch NFL on Sunday and Monday night. But now that I no longer play either football or baseball, my favorite sport to watch is baseball, specifically the Tigers.
I was like pretty much all of the Tigers fans, watching the latest loosing streak with some concern. But like a realist, I knew that at some point they would break out of their funk and score some runs. It happens to pretty much every team each year. I just hope that things turn back around and the Tigers can win their division, and then the pennant. Their fans deserve to watch them in the World Series once more.
As an aside, I had a couple of chances to play college football, but passed. And I could not even go to my high school football games for several years after graduation, because I couldn't stand watching and not playing.
One more thing, my daughter, her husband and my grandson live within walking distance of the West Michigan Whitecaps stadium. I have been there with them a few times. Minor league baseball is so much fun, and it is only about 40 minutes from my house.
Wishing you and yours a fantastic week, and make sure that you stay hydrated. After a lifetime spent in a steel melt shop, I can confirm that heat exhaustion and heat stroke are no joke.
Pigpen51: Yep college and minor league baseball is a ton of fun to watch and experience. It was fun watching the Tigers and Jays play too.
