It's Good To Be The Mayor Of Dearbonistan

Interesting article on the upcoming mayoral election in Deaborn.

The Detroit Free Press: Dearborn candidate running for mayor vows to battle crime and blight, cut mayoral salary

One bit of info in the article stood out:

. . .and cut by 25% Mayor Abdullah Hammoud's salary, which was higher than Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's salary last year.

Yep, the mayor of Pro-Hamas and Hezbollah, Muslim-majority Dearborn, a city with a population of 103,000 people, gets a salary higher than that of the Governor of the entire state. Funny, that.

On 2024 he was paid $172,038 - more than 171% higher than the average pay for a mayor.  By contrast, Whitmer was paid $159,300.

Then again, Gov. Whitmer has under-performed rather markedly for this state, and Abdullah Hammoud has performed most admirably for Hamas and Hezbollah.

After all, if Hamas' leaders can feather their nests and become billionaires, why can't the pro-Hamas mayor of Dearborn some big bucks?

My entire 65 years have been spent in Michigan, on the west side of the state. Half in Hesperia and half in Muskegon. Hesperia is very rural and Muskegon is a relatively small city.
Ever since I was 18 and old enough to be involved in politics, I have seen the unfairness of having the southeastern portion of the state, meaning Detroit and it's suburb type cities, run the whole state. Measures that would help those of us on the Lake or north of Grand Rapids have routinely been ignored while politicians were always glad to take our tax money for programs that would benefit the mostly urban areas in the southern portions of the state.
I know that nothing will ever be done about it, I just felt like venting. Plus I am disgusted by the gerrymandering done by both parties, supposedly to benefit all citizens but in fact done to try and maintain hold on the state government.
After all these years watching both state and federal government work, I would rather spend time in a slaughterhouse watching them make sausage.
