The Detroit Free Press: Many Black Americans speak African American English. But is it embraced in schools?
Ebonics is getting a makeover in public schools to be sold as a more palatable sounding "African American English".
The current crop progressive DEI educators are trying to frame it as "just another way of speaking" and that it is not slang but its own language. They tried the same approach when calling it Ebonics and they couldn't sell it, now they've repackaged the same progressive garbage as African American English.
Of course, they blame the lack of pandering to "African American English" as a reason why students using "African American English" have literacy issues. The current desire is that instead of schools actually teaching them to read and communicate effectively, it is more important to value their "identities and experiences".
Maybe they should spend more time teaching kids how to read and communicate effectively, after all, that might help with illiteracy now wouldn't it?

Nany folks get offended at that movie, not being able to realize it is parody.

Did you n=know that the entire interaction between the two black guys was made up just hours before when they met for the first time?
The sad part about those folks wanting a uniquely black way of speaking is that the condemn the kids learning it to menial jobs because they can't communicate and they sound stupid to others...
It is one of the many reasons blacks and back culture fail. Every other race had to learn how to speak English to integrate and no one made excuses for them if they didn't.
Ridculous, again...
It's not some secret that speaking intelligibly is important IF success in life is a goal. When there is a cultural anti white bias that condemns learning that and denounces being on time,prepared and dressed appropriately as White Supremacist behaviors, and they yield to peer pressure, eschewing the ways of successful people, then they fail themselves. It's bad for them, and society.

Justin_O_Guy: Yep, speaking intelligibly, showing up on time, putting in honest work, not having kids out of wedlock, staying off drugs - these are all things that will pretty much ensure you have a good life. All of which are now looked down on as "White values" (I daresay a lot of Asians will be ticked at that) rather than a basic roadmap to give all humans a decent shot at success.

It just kills me that all the gains of the civil rights movement of the 60's are being reversed, and segregation is becoming a thing again, not through Jim Crow or a resurgent KKK, but it is self-inflicted. I can't understand it.
