The situation: An illegal, having confessed to drug trafficking more than 6 kilograms of cocaine, and would be facing up to life imprisonment for drug trafficking, not to mention deportation at some point.
He was released on a $200 bond.
Surprise! He promptly absconded and is not in custody. Guess he didn't care about the $200 bucks he spent.

On top of that, a probationary Detroit cop just got busted for drug dealing.

Detroit likely needs to tighten up their bond requirements, not to mention their background checks on new hires.

Hey Aaron;
The PoPo in those cities can't get "good people" as it were now because of the crime and lawlessness that is evident. The Police take who they can get. Also the revolving door justice don't help, that is a attorney general problem, because they don't want to "penalize the community" so they are really soft on crime.
A few years ago, a Mexican-American immigrant worked where I had worked eventually for 35 years. He always had money, a nice car, etc. The police raided his garage, and found a kilo of pure cocaine, and 125,000$ of cash. This was in Muskegon. They were looking for him everywhere. Eventually they found him in Holland, MI.
I could not figure out why he didn't run to either Colorado, where he had relatives, or back to Mexico. One of his friends told me that the cocaine was not his, and that if he ran and got caught by someone other than the police, he was as good as dead, so what was the point.
He ended up getting 25 years to life in prison.
