Governor Half-Whit And The Lansing Protest

It's been said conservatives don't protest because they're too busy working. Well, by government fiat, they're not working now.

Legal Insurrection: Operation Gridlock” Locks Down Lansing (MI) To Protest Whitmer’s Shutdown Overreach

A solid turnout to protest the governor's executive overreach and arbitrary closure edicts.

How did the governor react today? First by not saying much more than because it's snowing today it doesn't matter that by law she prohibited you from boating, golfing and buying seeds to plant in your gardens until at least the end of April.

Yes, really:

"The fact that we’re cracking down on people traveling between homes or planting or landscaping or golfing, really, for a couple more weeks isn’t going to meaningfully impact people’s ability to do it because the snow will do that," Whitmer said.

Second by threatening in a "now look what you made me do" kind of way to extend the shut down and blaming such an extension on the protest itself:

"The sad irony here is that the protest was that they don't like being in this stay-home order and they may have just created a need to lengthen it," Whitmer said. "...Just by congregating, they've made that a real possibility."

The attitude kinda reminds you of the principal from The Breakfast Club now doesn't it?

After all, how dare those peasants express their frustration with arbitrary orders that prevent them from earning a living? Arbitrary orders that go beyond even the current federal guidelines and makes pot and lottery ticket buying legal, but makes buying gardening items, paint, golf, landscaping, and power boating illegal?

I didn't go to the event in Lansing, due to family obligations, but it might have been a good thing for them to just go ahead and bring the tar and feathers with them today, and have it done with. Because if our fair governor, Gretchen Whitless continues on her path, it is just a matter of time before the Michiganders run her out on a rail, coated in that tar and feathers.
The problem is, so many of the people I know, friends and relatives, support her decisions, and think that anyone who doesn't heed her rulings is basically attempting to commit murder with their children.
The stupidity, it runs deep in Michigan, and especially deep in Democrats.

pigpen51: Yep, she's certainly gotten that authoritarian overreach and imperial style down pat. Good to see people standing up to her excessive and arbitrary closure orders. we'll see if she listens or instead doubles down. You can guess what I think she'll do.

You're right that too darn many people here support her, whether for just the (D) behind her name, or that she's a woman who attacks Trump and thereby gets some media attention and hero status. I halfway hope Biden picks her as VP so she's no longer running this state, but her Lt. Gov is worse and I'd hate to see the damage she could inflict on the national level.
