While doing my BBQ duties yesterday, I noticed this growing voraciously in the backyard:
Yes, leaves of three, let it be, it's Poison ivy.
And there's a bloomin' lot of it.
Poison Ivy removal just went on the to-do list.

Oh.. NOT good!
Kill it kill it kill it!!!!! Poison it poison it poison it!!!!
I hate that stuff. I swear I only have to get near it to break out.
Old NFO: Nope, not good at all.
PH: Yep, I was planning to kill it with fire, but then I learned that such a plan can create a whole host of new toxic smoke problems.
I fear it will be a hand-to-ivy battle.
NO FIRE NO FIRE NO FIRE!!!!! Your lungs and eyes are just as vulnerable as your skin and the smoke will carry the oils from the plants.
No fire! put on gloves and long sleeves and trousers. Take a plastic cup with a relatively small amount of UNDILUTED RoundUp in it. Use a small - 1/2 inch(is) paint brush and dab a large selection of the leaves with roundup. Repeat as you can until it appears dead. It will come back somewhat each year, but less and less.
Also, lay in some Zanfel or Technu (I prefer Technu) poison ivy wash.
The minute you are done painting your poison ivy go shower thoroughly. first with shampoo and then with the ivy wash. Toss the clothes in the wash, once with ordinary detergent and once with a couple-three capfuls of ivy wash.
That stuff is NASTY if you are sensitive to it. Better safe than sorry.
I should have mentioned - if you don't care about the surrounding plants just spray the stuff with RoundUp. Rinse and repeat.
PH & Knucklehead: Roger that on the no fire.
Knucklehead, thanks for the advice I'll be putting it into action this weekend.
