UPS Mis-shipment - Deliberate Not Accidental

It looks like this was a deliberate theft.

Someone at UPS in Pontiac deliberately re-routed the package to Kansas City, MO.

This is a problem with declaring contents of a package as a firearm.

Even better their system is not even letting me file a claim.

This is getting interesting.

Hey Aaron;

Hate to mention it, wonder if you want to get the salsa agency involve.... ATF ...They like crap like these, it means that there is a network in UPS that is transferring firearms around their network to their "buddies" and that is interstate stuff. I had poor dealings with them in dealing with my Henry Rifle when I was shipping it, I did get it, but the hassle with UPS...Henry was awesome....UPS not so much.

When a bunch of guys on Pistol-Forum were taking advantage of a deal from Precision Delta, more than one shipment disappeared from UPS's Memphis hub.

25 years ago, I sent a 1911 to Colt for service. I declared it as "machined parts".

Mr Garabaldi: It's now reported to the Sheriff's office with jurisdiction over the UPS shipping center. ATF doesn't take loss/theft reports form ordinary citizens so it'll get forwarded to them by the Sheriff I expect.

Comrade Misfit: Yep not unsurprising. Only problem with declaring it machine parts and not complying with their firearm shipping policies is if something goes wrong they won't cover the loss at all even if their fault.

I used UPS to ship a defective air rifle a few weeks ago. The lady asked me what was inside the box. I said "Machine components". She asked what kind of components. I was stumped for a moment (later realized "pneumatic actuator" might have sufficed) and she said, well, as long as it's not a gun. Oh no, it's not, I said.
There was no way I was going to say "air rifle". I didn't think she'd hear the first word, only the second.
The seller shipped me a replacement by Fed Ex.

I'm temped to say "Get A Lawyer", but, uhhh.....I think you've got that covered.

So now it gets declared a theft? Should be real interesting to see how UPS does a CYA on this.....
