Why Is The Ingham County Prosecutor's Office Dancing Around The Plea Deal In The Case Of The MSU Killer?

Because the please deal was part of the then -serving Ingham County Prosecutor's non-prosecution policy for "racial justice":

Fox 47 News: Ingham County prosecutor receives support and backlash for policies meant to ease racial disparities

Ingham County Prosecutor Carol Siemon said, when she was elected in 2016, one of her main goals was to reduce systemic racial bias and racial disparities from law enforcement, but not everyone supports the policies she's put in place to do that.

“I was raised here in Lansing, in a diverse community,” Siemon said. “I’ve always had an interest in civil rights, all aspects of civil rights. As a woman, I’ve been a feminist all my life. LGBTQ Rights, racial disproportionality, immigrants rights. So, when I was elected as prosecutor, my goal was to try and create a more criminal and equitable legal system.”
. . .

In the past month, Siemon has pushed out two policies meant to decrease the number of Black people behind bars.

One of the policies was not pushing felony firearms charges, nor offenses arising from traffic stops - for equity and racial justice, of course.

That worked out really well, didn't it?

Ingham County: Gun Laws Are Not To Be Enforced Against Criminals.

Because doing so is racist, per the prosecutor.   So what good are they then?

WKAR:  Ingham County Prosecutor Pledges To Dial Back Use Of Mandatory Minimum Gun Charge

The woke prosecutor,  Carol Siemon, is against charging criminals with the possessing a firearm in the commission of a felony charge under Michigan law.

That charge carries a 2-year prison sentence and thus gets felons out of circulation for awhile.  She's opposed to it because it turns out that a lot of felons carrying firearms and committing felonies in her county happen to be Black.

Black people make up 12% of Ingham County’s population, but they accounted for 67% of those charged with felony firearm possession in the county last year, according to a news release from the prosecutor's office.

Given that FBI statistics show Blacks at 13% of the national population commit 50% of the murders in America and 45% of all violent crime in general (with most of the murder victims being Black) the statistics seem to concord quite well with the existence in her county of a very active felon subclass of the Black population.

The prosecutor went to to say that punishment doesn't work so why bother.  Well she actually said that:

"We've learned, of course, that deterrence is not a very strong motivator, unfortunately."

Siemon says the penalty hasn't made the public safer since prosecutors can add the charge even if the gun was legally owned or if the gun wasn't used in the underlying felony for which someone was arrested. Instead, she says, the charge is a major driver of racial disparities in incarceration.

Putting felons in jail for felony firearm possession would result in keeping them off the street and not commititng cirmes, incuding crimes agaisnt racial minorities, but that is insufficiently woke.

Of course, she reserves the right to bring such a charge against the right kind of people:

Although Siemon can't stop police from arresting people for firearm possession, she says her office will be more limited in approving the charge.

Any use of the charge will need to be OK'd by Siemon herself or the county's chief assistant prosecutor, according to a new policy announced Tuesday.

Siemon says she'll limit approval of the charge to "extreme circumstances,"

A little anarcho-tyrrany there, where criminal felons of the right skin color will go uncharged, and one can expect that those non-felons of a different color using a firearm to defend themselves may get hit with this charge.

In other woke news, she also refuses to charge criminals caught with drugs or firearms during traffic stops with any crimes.

This isn't just being soft on crime.  This is giving criminals a complete pass when caught with illegal items as long as it's during a traffic stop, which is the best time to actually stop them, before they're a the scene of their next crime.

Expect crime in Ingham County to start tracking upwards as criminals take note of the new hands-off approach to crime in the name of wokeness.

No Charges Forthcoming In The Case Of The Toilet Ballot Box

The Ingham County prosecuting attorney, while a Democrat, at least knows the law and a parody when she sees one, and announced that no, she is not going to seek criminal charges in the case of the clear toilet ballot drop-box parody.

The DeToilet Detroit News: Complaint flushed: No charge in Mason toilet election display

While Ingham County Clerk Barb Byrum sought charges against the maker of the parody, as she claimed voting is no laughing matter, and then later stated that "she didn't see the toilet Tuesday".

If that's the case, Ingham County really should reconsider Barb Bayrum as being a clerk in charge of overseeing the election.  If her eyesight is so poor that she can't spot a toilet, she's going to have major problems counting ballots, not to mention detecting fraud.

Then again, that inability to spot fraud as a Democrat clerk in charge of a very Democrat county's elections may very well be a feature rather than a bug.

If You're Dumb Enough To Mistake A Toilet For A Vote Drop-box . . .

Then, well, lets just say The Ingham County Clerk (D) is quite concerned that fellow Democrat voters could mistake a toilet for a voting drop box.

The soft bigotry of low expectations and all that, I suppose.

The Detoilet Detroit News: Official: Toilet display in Mason mocking mail-in voting is a crime

Yep, seriously, she's seeking criminal charges for a clear First Amendment Parody regarding mail-in voting.

A Michigan resident’s apparent joke showing disdain for voting by mail is no laughing matter for one election official.

The resident put a toilet on their lawn with a sign that says, “Place mail in ballots here.”

Barb Byrum, the Democratic clerk of Ingham County, filed a complaint with police over the display, saying it could mislead people who aren’t familiar with the voting system.

Hopefully the police throw the idea of charging the man for his valid and rather humorous protest display right down the toilet.

I guess that if you can't tell the difference between a drop-box for a vote, a Post Office Box to mail a vote in, and a toilet, then you might just be a Democrat.

Why Do Anti-Gun Democrat Politicians Keep Commiting Crimes?

While the Rolling Stones may have famously sang that "Just as every cop is a criminal", they likely could hardly have imagined "every Prosecutor a Pimp".

Then again, they likely hadn't had any encounter with Michigan's Ingham County Democrat anti-gun prosecutor Stuart Dunnings III.

Lansing State Journal: Stuart Dunnings' political future unclear after charges

Dunnings, 63, faces one felony charge of pandering and 14 misdemeanor charges, including 10 of engaging a prostitute. The pandering count — enticing another person to become a prostitute — is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

Pandering as in inducing a woman to engage in prostitution as reported by Mlive.com.

It seems like an awful lot of the claims that anti-gunners make about gun owners, whether claims that gun owners are violent or criminals or such, is just projection of their own natures. Mr. Dunnings, essentially a prosecutor-for-life in solidly Democrat Ingham County, has quite the track record of being against law abiding citizens having firearms.

Allegedly Prosecutor Dunnings was a very good client of a sex trafficking ring.

Apparently he was quite the regular patron, and at one point

allegedly using his position to coerce a woman who came to him for help with a child custody case to have sex with him for money, according to court records.

Do note this is not just anyone doing such a reprehensible deed. This is a county prosecutor, someone who prosecuted people for the very wrong acts he committed, likely at the very same time he was doing them himself. That there's a credible allegation that he as a prosecutor used his office to entice someone to engage in prostitution is rather shocking. One would think a prosecutor of all people should know better and act better.

Then again as a Democrat politician, perhaps he simply thought he could get away with shifting from screwing people wholesale to retail.

One can note that Mr. Dunnings is endorsed for reelection by: United Auto Workers, Fraternal Order of Police, Greater Lansing Labor Council (AFL-CIO), and the Michigan Education Association.

Now that he will resign effective July 2, methinks they'll be pulling their endorsements considering these revelations.

Yet another illegal combatant in the actual war on women.
