Progressives Protesting Against Their Own Progressive Interest

So what leads women who dress up like this:

To protest in support of the Islamic mullah-led government of Iran, that makes women dress up like this:

 Heck, how do you explain how progressive Calla Walsh, a former campaign worker for  Senator Elizabeth Warren can get on stage in Iran, complete with the obligatory hijab, and on live Iranian TV recite "Death to America". ?

She is progressively propagandizing for a regime that, among other heinous things, requires women protestors seeking freedom to be raped before they are executed to prevent them under Islamic law from going to heaven, which they would if they died as virgins? 

These progressive women are quite simply fantasizing when they claim the government under President Trump and Republicans is a burgeoning theocracy that will force them to wear the snazzy red outfits.  Not going to happen.

Indeed, the Trump administration is taking active steps to free women currently trapped under the material of such similar outfits in Iran, far beyond the platitudes and lack of action of the progressives and prior Democratic leadership both. 

At the same time this is going on, these progressive women protest on behalf of a Islamic regime that, by any metric, abuses women in a fashion even the fictional wankers of the women's fantasy that run the theocracy in the Handmaid's Tale would find repugnant.

How to square that circle? 

It's basically a combination of fantasy, ignorance, and the Red-Green progressive alliance.

After all, with the fall of the Soviet Union, it looked to progressives that western civilization was in its ascendancy and communism and its promise of socialist paradise just wasn't going to happen.

So instead, they sought out support of regimes and peoples that while anti-progressive by word, act and ideology, stood the best chance of destroying western civilization that these progressives had convinced themselves was the source of all evil.

This is how you get progressive LGBT-ers protesting on behalf of peoples and regimes that think that the best LGBTer is one who is given a flying lesson - off a multi-story building. And it is how you get women protesting on behalf of regimes and ideologies that, if these same women were under their control that regime would systematically strip them of their rights including their rights to protest.

Never mind that women and indeed all mankind have never been freer than they are now in places where western civilization is ascendant. The progressive believe it is a hellhole where any moment now they will be forced into handmaid's suits and a socialist paradise waits around the corner if they just protest enough.

The Socialist Paradise they work for never actually arrives mind you, and if it does it inevitably fails in hunger and poverty, and is discarded by them as not a real "Socialist Paradise".  Progressives then try out the next one to lay their hopes upon.

So why the Red-Green alliance?  

Well, Islam is the only force, aside from Communist China, that right now has a real capability of tearing down western civilization, especially if the progressives in positions of power give it a helping hand with open immigration,  protection of it from criticism, and giving Islamism a free rein in their countries.

Somehow, the progressive figure, just like the gnome underpants theory of value, that if they stuff in enough Islamists, it will bring down western civilization and then lead to a socialist paradise where the enlightened progressives end up on top like white saviors to lead the unwashed Islamic hordes to paradise.

This cunning plan of the progressives has holes in it, a lot of them, to say the least.  

It doesn't have a good track record. Indeed the progressive leftists in Iran who supported the overthrow of the Shah by the Ayatollahs were among some of the first to be executed by the regime of the Ayatollahs.

But the plan is what they've got, even as it lacks any logical consistency, and it explains the rather inexplicable love the progressives have for people that are decidedly the very definition of UN-progressive.

The Rather Bad Bunny Show

Watched the Superbowl yesterday with friends.

The game had impressive defenses on both sides and the Patriot's offense couldn't rise to the occasion.  Former Michigan State Spartan K-9 Ken Walker put in some serious work for the Seahawks to win but otherwise it did not feel like a particularly exciting game.

The half-time show was worse than the game.

All in Spanish, with lewd lyrics at that, complete with the Bad Bunny busily and repeatedly clutching his crotch, along with some shots of male dancers grinding on each other.

Not exactly representative of America.

It was, however, an interesting tale of Puerto Rican culture:  

It showed Puerto Ricans' transition from working in the fields; to opening a bodega in New York City; then falling through a roof for some reason; and then getting shocked to death after trying to steal copper from a power line atop a pole - all the while grabbing your crotch with one hand (which could explain how you got shocked to death stealing copper) - and then marching with a bunch of Latin American countries' flags during the funeral for the dead thief.

That may not have been the actual story.

But, with everything only in Spanish* including the subtitles that seemed to be the best explanation for what was going on.

*except for Lady Gaga's lyrics -- and due to the sound mixing her lyrics did not really come through at all and could not be heard which may well have been deliberate.

In short, the half time show was not exactly directed to the Superbowl and football fan audience at all.  Jay Z needs to turn over the half time show selection power to someone that actually gets the fans and football. Just saying.

We Are Not The Same

In the case of George Floyd, a criminal with a record for drug possession, theft, trespass and aggravated robbery - a conviction resulting from his pointing a gun at a pregnant lady's belly while robbing her - dies or is killed - depending on who you believe - after resisting arrest and ingesting a lethal dose of fentanyl.

After his death, Democrat-led riots broke out, resulting in the deaths and murders of 26 people, injuries to hundreds, looting, arson, and over 2 billion dollars in property damage.

In the case of Charlie Kirk, a family man, is assassinated for merely winning debates and informing college youths that there is an alternative belief system to leftism.  

After his death, no riots break out, merely prayer vigils (that are disrupted by leftists, of course), no deaths, no looting, no arson, and no property damage. 

We are not the same. 

The Left Needs To Knock This Off, Now

 Leftists in just the past year have:

1. Attempted to Assassinate President Trump and that's not counting the almost successful attempt in Butler PA in July of 2024 a year and a few months ago;

2.  Firebombed a Governor's Mansion to "Free Palestine"; 

3. Shot and killed two Jews outside a museum again to "Free Palestine";

4.  Firebombed a peaceful demonstration and set Jews on fire, killing an 82-year-old, again to "Free Palestine";

5.  Shot up a church, killing two children, and injuring 18 people.

6. And now they have assassinated Charlie Kirk, because they couldn't beat him and his conservative ideas in polite debate, and because to leftists, their violence is speech and a conservative's speech is violence.

This leftist violence and uncivil behavior is already beyond unacceptable, and if it continues, no one is going to like where it goes.  

How Soon Neil Young Forgets

So Neil Young is delivering an ultimatum to Spotify that it's either Joe Rogan or him.  I think there was a song already written some time ago that summed up how this is likely to go:

Well I heard Mr. Young give an ultimatum
Well I heard old Neil put Joe Rogan down
Well I hope Neil Young will remember
Spotify don't need him around anyhow

And verily, his ultimatum, as a last ditch gasp for attention, to which many youngsters and Joe Rogan podcast subscribers alike will say "Neil who?",  will likely fall flat.

To no one's surprise, except perhaps to Mr. Young, this has indeed gone pretty much as expected:

Education Gone Woke: Getting The Right Answers In Math And More Is Now White Supremacy Culture

Critical Race Theory first infiltrated and infected the higher echelons of Academia and its now spread to the corporate world (See Coca-Cola telling its white employees to try to act less white for example)  the entertainment world - see the cancellation of Gina Carano and the current force-feeding of BLM and woke theology in just about every show these days)

Now its working its way down the educational chain into primary and secondary schools.

We see white supremacy culture in the mathematics classroom can show up when:

• The focus is on getting the “right” answer.

• Independent practice is valued over teamwork or collaboration.

• “Real-world math” is valued over math in the real world.

• Participation structures reinforce dominant ways of being.

• Teachers enculturated in the USA teach mathematics the way they learned it.

• Expectations are not met.

• Addressing mistakes.

• Teachers are teachers and students are learners.

• Math is taught in a linear fashion and skills are taught sequentially, without consideration of prerequisite knowledge.

• State standards guide learning in the classroom.

• Procedural fluency is preferred over conceptual knowledge.

• “Good” math teaching is considered an antidote for mathematical inequity for Black, Latinx, and multilingual students.

• Rigor is expressed only in difficulty.

• “I do, we do, you do” is the format of the class.

• Students are required to “show their work.”

• Grading practices are focused on lack of knowledge.

Note this insanity of course comes from California, with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation providing "generous financial support" for this insanity.

First, it is amazingly racist to deem math a matter of white superiority and "white supremacy culture".  Many races and ethnicities of all sorts are rather upset with this unfounded assertion.

Second, it's even more amazingly racist towards black and brown people and "multi-lingual" people [seriously - what?] to claim that getting "the right answer", being required to "show your work",  "Addressing mistakes",  having "expectations",  "procedural fluency",  and that teachers are expected to be teachers and students are expected to be students are somehow signs and features of white supremacy culture.

Just imagine if the real-life Black women of NASA in Hidden Figures when asked by astronauts for their orbital calculations simply replied: 

"Sorry, we can't be expected to meet those expectations and getting the right answer and then showing how we did that is a matter of white supremacy culture - hope y'all have a good launch and good luck"

Just imagine if Jaime Escalante, when teaching his Hispanic students about calculus and advanced math, that instead of inspiring and challenging his students to learn and excel instead just said:

    "That's just white supremacy culture esse, you can't be expected to learn that or get the right answer, just go back to the barrio."

I think we've gone past the soft bigotry of low expectations and have started hitting the hard stuff.  

Would you want anyone designing a bridge, vehicle, or doing financial calculations, or anything else for that matter related to math not being concerned with getting the right answer, showing their work, etc?

It's bad enough that Gates inflicted Common Core on the nation, now he's funding an even more destructive Common Wokeness on our nation.

Oh, Those White People And Their Values Of (Checks Notes) Hard Work, Timeliness, Politeness And Stable Families!

Nope, this is not a joke, its an actual real publication from the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture:

Apparently rational linear thinking, stable families, a work ethic, and showing up on time are signs of whiteness.

If you can't figure out the racist absurdity of their publication, well, there's not much I suggest except, that in the words of Chief Justice John Roberts: The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race.

That it's the flippin' Smithsonian Institution publicizing this racist nonsense and classifying successful traits as White is rather insane.

In short, I'm not sure if the museum hired a Black Klansman to draw this up, as if successful traits are identified as being White, I'd really hate to see what they come up and describe as Black cultural traits.

This idiotic graphic is classifying and identifying traits that make one successful in the modern world as being White cultural traits.

I expect Asians including the Japanese, Koreans, and Chinese would beg to differ and object vociferously that their mastery of these traits somehow makes them White. Heck, I'd expect Nigerians and other successful African immigrants that embrace these successful cultural traits would similarly object to them being classified as "White".

Hey Fudds! They Really Are Coming For Your Guns

The culture war takes another icon in the name of progressive cant.

Seriously, they're taking away the Fudd's gun. They're also taking away Yosemite Sam's pistols.

No word yet on whether Slowpoke Rodriguez loses his gun and gets eaten by a cat as a result - we'll have to see.

On the upside, they're taking the terrible, horrible, no-good, firearm and replacing it with nicer, cuddlier, and kinder things like dynamite and a scythe. This is because we all know that hunters use scythes and dynamite for rabbit hunting on the regular, and these things are perfectly ok in today's society - but not guns. Not even hunting guns van be shown - the kind banners always claim they're not trying to take away.

You really can't make this prog cultural insanity up.

It's All Greek To Me

We were kindly invited by our friendly Greek neighbors to the Taste of Greece Festival at a Greek Orthodox Church in Plymouth.

There was a fine display of Greek culture, with many performances by various Greek dancing troupes:

There was also a market displaying crafts and jewelry, a tavern with drinks and a cafe with Greek coffee, not to mention the main tent with the food and dancing within.

While the dances were performing, we had dinner.

I had a Greek combo plate - generous portions of roast leg of lamb, dolmades (stuffed grape leaves), and Pastitsio (noodles layered with beef and a bechamel sauce sort of a Greek lasagna) and a Greek salad and a big thick slice of fresh bread. It was all quite delicious.

The kids, being very daring, had the mac and cheese. At least it was homemade style and not from a box. They reported it was excellent.

After the dance groups had finished, they invited everyone onto the dance floor, and a joyful ring of chaos ensued:

The kids and I danced around in circles with our neighbors and had a great time.

We then finished with some Touloumbes, Greek Honey Balls:

The festival is very well organized, nicely laid out, and has a lot to offer. So, if you're by 5 Mile and Haggerty Rd in Plymouth this weekend, its well worth the visit. You won't be sorry if you go out of your way to go there its a great place to go for a family friendly event.

A Euphamism Darkly

Mitch Albom hides the ball well in his article on the flash mob phenomenon: Mitch Albom: Flash mobs: Quick start, hard to stop

Look at this impressive though most likely unintentional use of euphemism:

They call it a flash mob. And it recently has shown its dark side, in London, Philadelphia and other places.

That's as close as Albom gets to describing the predominantly "dark" racial makeup of the flash mobs that have been sweeping across the US and England.

Thankfully, we've yet to have one of these flash mobs in the Detroit area and hopefully Albom's coverage doesn't inspire a bunch of morons to try and form one. Of course, given the dearth of white people in Detroit proper, the focal racial bent these flash mobs of black-on-white assaults as seen in other US cities likely won't be as prevalent unless they want to try and play in the suburbs.

Albom's concern about and blame of the technology that lets morons gather into criminal mobs rather than the cultural milieu that makes such mobs thinkable is rather indicative.

As can be seen in Mark Steyn's latest must-read essay Lessons for us from London in flames, this problem is less one of technology and far more of a culture brought about by a welfare state coupled with an indulgent justice system with an attitude toward miscreants that doesn't make them face the consequences of their actions.

Until it is clear that such criminality will not be excused or tolerated, you're going to see it continue, regardless of the technology that causes crowds of those bent on criminal acts to gather.
