The World's Two Smallest Violins

Are busy playing for this sad state of penal affairs:

The Detroit Free Press: Michigan prisons plan 'normal operations,' no protective glasses, for Monday's eclipse

Yep, some prisoners are sad that in prison they don't get to enjoy viewing an eclipse.

Much sadness.

Then again, they are in prison, after all, which is not supposed to be a day at the beach complete with eclipse-filled views.

Some prisoners in New York are suing over not being able to view the eclipse:

The prisoners who have sued over the lockdown say the eclipse has religious significance and denying them the right to view it is unconstitutional claiming it is violating their religious freedom

I wonder how many of them will on Monday will be chanting:

Here's to the sun god;

He's such a fun god;

Ra! Ra! Ra!

Because if they don't, it's clearly not a sincerely held religious belief. Just sayin'.

More Revolving Door Justice Leading To Murder

Progressives hate the idea of the criminal accused (and most especially the minority criminal accused)  having to post a bond and prefer them walking free. They have the wonderfully naive belief that said criminals will then not commit crimes while they're released on their own promise to be good and will then happily show up to their hearings.

Reality begs to differ with their quaint utopian dreams.

In the latest example on August 11th, a MSU student, a junior, at 20 years old is murdered by the 22-year-old estranged baby daddy of his lover at the lover's home.

The Detroit News:  22-year-old man charged in fatal shooting of MSU student

Unreported in the Detroit News article is that the 22 year old had been previously arrested on May 5 for 4 counts of domestic violence. He was released on a personal bond, meaning he didn't need to pay anything to be released.

Oh, and he was next apparently arrested (the story reporting this is rather badly written and it is hard to tell what happened exactly) again on August 1 on yet another charge of domestic violence and a felony home invasion and apparently let go yet again.

Said criminal clearly takes this really, really, seriously, as he then fails to even show up to his hearing on August 3.  The counts don;t take the failure to appear all that seriously and just a bench warrant gets issued for him then, after 5 domestic violence counts and a felony home invasion.

Then, on August 11 he finally kills someone, when as he's out on his bond for all these previously committed crimes and is not allowed to possess a weapon. Because after all, of course he'll follow the restrictions of his release, right?

You know, if someone got arrested for 5 counts of domestic violence and a home invasion - or even just arrested for 4 counts of domestic violence -  instead of giving them a personal recognizance bond, maybe requiring them to put up some serious coin or even better have the bond set high enough that they sit in jail and can't commit further crimes just might be useful.

It might just dissuade, or if kept in jail, completely prevent the criminal from going out and doing more domestic violence rather than the progressive approach of "Cheerio, off you go? ".

Just a suggestion.

The Revolving Door Justice System Revolves

Until someone ends up getting killed.

Then we get "Oh well, the system failed", and it continues, or, if the felon uses a firearm, they call for gun bans, and then it continues.

The Detroit News: Wynter Smith kidnap suspect had run-ins with multiple police agencies in recent years

Note that this example of a career criminal not only stabbed his ex, but also is the #1 suspect in the murder and dumping of the body of her two-year-old daughter.

The man accused of abducting a 2-year-old girl found dead Wednesday on Detroit’s east side after allegedly sexually assaulting her mother has a violent criminal past that includes domestic violence, assault, and resisting and obstructing police in at least five Michigan counties, court records show.

Note the multiple convictions and the multiple times he keeps getting let out, even after serially violating probation and having a track record for assaulting police officers and resisting arrest:

The records show Trice was first sentenced to 224 days in jail for domestic violence and attempted resisting, assaulting or obstructing a police officer in Monroe County stemming from a May 23, 2021 arrest.

A week later, on May 31, 2021, Trice was arrested for obstructing police in Clinton County. He was sentenced to attempted assaulting, resisting and obstructing police and was given a year in jail for that offense, records show.

But in August 2021, he was again charged with assault and obstructing Michigan State Police in Livingston County, according to court records.

After that incident in Handy Township near Fowlerville, Trice pled guilty and admitted in court records that he "fled two police officers in a motor vehicle, assaulted two officers w/ a motor vehicle, resisted/obstructed 2 officers and operated a motor vehicle w/o a license," according to Livingston County court records.

A Livingston County judge sentenced Trice to two years of probation in January 2022 for fleeing police, felonious assault and assaulting, resisting and obstructing police. Trice pled guilty to six counts in that case.

Trice was again arrested less than three months later by Lansing police for fleeing police and misdemeanor assault, court records show. He was sentenced to 93 days in jail in April 2022 for that offense.

Time and again he was released, and he then went off and committed more violent crimes, for which he was again released.

Now, had his probation in January 2022 been revoked after he violated it by committing crimes three months later for just the one incident alone, and put in jail for that time, he would still have been in jail today and would have been unable to stab his ex and kill her 2-year old.

But he was released yet again, and committed more crimes, and now has a murder on top of the rest of his long list of other violent crimes.

Out Of The Running For Mother Of The Year Award

When you think you've found the depths of depravity of the human condition, horrible depraved people dig down a little deeper:

The Detroit News: Detroit mother accused of giving her son, 4, fentanyl

As one would expect, the child died after being poisoned by his own mother with the fentanyl.

A Detroit mother has been charged in connection with the 2022 death of her 4-year-old son from fentanyl, officials said Monday.

Chavon Caprice Boone, 40, was arraigned Sunday on charges of felony murder, first-degree child abuse, and delivery of a narcotic-causing death, the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said. If convicted, she faces up to life in prison for the murder charge.

Words fail and are inadequate on this one.

Warning! Alter Ego Firearms LLC Has a Scammy Alter Ego Impersonator Out There

First off, the actual Alter Ego Firearms LLC has done nothing wrong, at all.  They are a legit business.

Unfortunately, there is a scammer out there using Alter Ego's FFL, SOT,  and address, but of course the scammer's own bank account wiring info, claiming to sell NFA Class 3 items.  They also had a great -- and fake Form 3, with a serial number matching the serial on the pictures sent.

The scam is real good - scammer is using an altered copy of the actual FFL, and replaced the signature and owner name to match that on the wire instructions with what may very well be the scammer's own real name, or yet another fake identity - Ros M. Charles.

Note well, there is no Ros M. Charles at the real Alter Ego Firearms.

So do not buy an NFA item online from Alter Ego Firearms or anyone else for that matter without calling their real number first to verify you're dealing with the actual company and not a scammer.

First clue I had it was a scam was their using multiple email addresses.

Second clue - a demand to quickly send a wire transfer rather than a money order to the actual address of the real shop and a weird bit of grammar.

I did notify Alter Ego Firearms about this and they are taking action as well.  I also notified the listed bank that the account was being used as a scam, so they are at least on notice, but it sounds like they as a bank are not going to do anything.

I expect I will email the scammers that the bank couldn't send a wire so I sent a money order to their FFL address to see what they say to that.

Unfortunately, NFA items are very spendy due to the Hughes Amendment, and getting spendier all the time.  If the spammers get you for half up front and run, you're hosed and out of a significant chunk of change.

Sadly, due to the antiquated nature of the NFA process, the NFA transaction is based very much on trust - trust that the seller has the item and can actually sell it to you, and that trust and the system itself is ripe for abuse.

I highly recommend not sending wire transfers for any NFA or other firearms purchase to prevent this kind of scam.  Also use the ATFE FFL lookup to verify the address and number on the FFL you're given, and only send money to that address, and finally, call the actual business number (not one found in the fake email, but in a proper business directory) to verify who you are dealing with before proceeding with the transaction.

Did The Uber Eats Driver Get Et?

A rather strange and brutal crime out of Florida, where an MS-13 gang member and felon seemed to be confused about how things are supposed to work with delivery services:

The rule is you're supposed to tip your delivery driver, not rip them into pieces and stuff them into garbage bags.

Another rule is you do not eat your Uber Eats driver, you eat the food they bring you.

The criminal's picture in the article shows he's a very well adjusted fellow.  Or, er,  not so much.

The Detroit News: Sheriff: Uber Eats driver slain, dismembered making delivery

A Florida man is charged with murder and other offenses in the slaying and dismemberment of an Uber Eats driver who had brought food to the assailant's house, authorities said Tuesday.

Oscar Solis Jr., 30, is charged with killing the driver during a delivery Wednesday at a home in Holiday, Florida, Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco said at a news conference. The remains were found at the house in trash bags and a cooler, which also contained a receipt with Solis' name on it, according to a police affidavit.
Is he really a Florida man if he just moved there in the last few months after getting out of prison in Indiana? In any case back to prison he goes, hopefully for a heckuva lot longer than his last sentence.

How Do You Stop A Violent Firearms-Using Criminal From Violating The Terms Of His Release In Detrorit?

Apparently, you do it by removing the terms of the release bond that he keeps violating, not by incarcerating him for his violations.

Yes, really.  The whole BLM style, woke, no cash bail, no "mass incarceration" crowd has managed to find quite a following in Detroit, where even violent criminals get released to walk the streets on the regular.

The Detroit News: Detroit shooting suspect's releases prompt police cries of judicial leniency

When Teddy Valentino Davis appeared before Wayne County Circuit Judge Michael Hathaway for a May 23 bond violation hearing, the 20-year-old defendant allegedly had breached his bond and tether conditions five times while awaiting trial on a concealed weapons charge.

The judge ensured there wouldn't be another tether violation — by ordering Davis' ankle device removed and releasing the defendant on his own recognizance.

Yep, he keeps violating the terms of his release bond, so instead of putting him in jail for the violation (and thus keeping him off the streets and stopping him from committing more violent crimes), the Judge removed the conditions of the bond and then released him without a bond

Tell me again how we need more gun control laws to stop firearms-related crime when actual criminals with longstanding and active firearms and violence related crimes on their record get released on their own recognizance, free to continue their crime sprees?

Let's note that his most recent violation puts him at the scene of a drive by shooting and he was carrying a gun with casings that matched those left at the shooting scene (yes casings evidence tends to be unreliable but I'd bet dollars to doughnuts the caliber matches and likely his partial prints may be on the casings - so given the GPS match and firearm match held by a felon in possession he was probably involved). Oh, and his GPS tether shows him on location at other shooting scenes.

Again, this is no ordinary citizen, this is a convicted felon, found in possession of a firearm, who has used that firearm in crimes, found with more firearms, been positively located at shooting scenes when shootings were going on, and was seen on social media to brandish firearms and threaten people.

One would think a felon in possession with a history of violence and outstanding threats against identifiable persons would be properly incarcerated.

But no, he's set free to commit more crimes and increase the statistics on "gun violence", because per the ACLU and fellow travellers, the bail system hurts minorities, so it is per their beliefs, better that he be out on the street to go around and shoot minorities such as himself.

Make of that what you will.

But quite simply, I'd pay no heed to anyone calling for more gun control laws who also advocates the no cash bail and revolving door system for actual criminals to be let free and commit more crimes with and without guns.

Given they advocate leaving criminals free to roam and commit violent crimes, even as they commit clear crimes with firearms, while at the same time calling for gun bans shows they are fundamentally unserious about dealing with crime, including gun crime, and instead seek disarmament of law-abiding folks leaving them prey for the criminals they keep releasing.

Dear Michigan UIA: Maybe You Could Stop Making Fraud So Damn Easy?

Yet another Stupid Criminal busted for stealing over $700,000 from Michigan's Unemployment Insurance Agency. Stupid because he was dumb enough to post about it on social media.

The Detroit News:  Farmington Hills man who flaunted wealth sentenced in fraud scheme

Too bad he didn't claim the fraud was just reparations payments, maybe he would have walked then.

He apparently also had inside help at the Post Office for stealing mail and debit cards and then decided to go direct to UIA to ply his fraud directly.

The problem is Michigan's UIA among many other insanely open security holes, pays out benefits on debit cards - cards which are ridiculously easy to use without needing to show any identification and sent by mail apparently to any damn address a fraudster may desire.

At least with  a check or payments direct to a bank account there's at least some paper trail to ascertain the identity of the recipient and match the payment to the name of the actual recipient.   Not so much with a debit card.

UIA just doesn't seem to care much if it as an agency is enabling fraud by passing out debit cards to just about any claimant created online without even verifying their address and comparing it to wage reports of the actual worker.

That's hundreds of millions lost to fraud from the Unemployment Insurance Agency in Michigan alone, and over $300 Billion nationally in fraudulent UI payments - enough to send every American citizen a whole other payment of $1,400 or more and instead it went to fraudsters like this idiot and to scammers in Russia, China and Africa.

Quit making it so easy for criminals to commit this type of fraud.

Mo' Con Goin For Just One Mo' Con

Former Corrupt Detroit Councilwoman and Convicted felon Monica Conyers is going for one more shot to feed at the public trough and running for Wayne County Executive.

One problem though, as a convicted corrupt public official she can't hold the office even if she won.

The Detroit Free Press:  Monica Conyers to run for Wayne County executive, despite being banned from office

Former Detroit City Councilwoman Monica Conyers submitted a bid for the county's top office, despite a state law preventing her from holding public office.

The former councilwoman pleaded guilty in 2009 to using her position on council and a city pension fund board to solicit bribes from businessmen seeking city contracts or pension deals. She spent three years in federal prison. State law bans officeholders convicted of a felony involving deceit and fraud from holding office for 20 years.

The law does not explicitly state they can't run though, even if they can't hold office so she's running.

So, since she's barred form holding the office, why is she running? What is the one mo' con that she is trying to pull here?

Is she trying to divert votes from another candidate or get paid off?  One doth wonder.

An Interesting Unmentioned Fact About Patrick Lyoya

While BLM and his family is trying to paint him as a dindu nothin, an interesting fact, for some reason completely unreported by both the Detroit News and Detroit Free Press has been found.

At the time he was pulled over, Patrick Lyoya was on probation for Operating While Intoxicated.

That certainly explains the revoked license our Democrat Secretary of State tried to censor, as well as why he ran form the officer and resisted arrest as by driving a car (potentially stolen as it had mismatching license plates) while on probation with a revoked license he was violating his probation in all sorts of ways.

Shame he was on probation instead of in jail, he would have been alive if he wasn't free to assault a police officer.

A rather important fact that gives context to the story, yes?   Rather easy to find, and rather peculiar that it has not been remarked upon by the press.

Now why would that not be reported in the stories regarding the events?

You Really Can Fool Some Of The People All Of The Time.

Especially so when they want to be fooled.

The Detroit News: 'The one who came back': Ex-Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick returns to Detroit to preach at Historic Little Rock Baptist Church

Yep, disgraced ex-mayor and playa Kwame Kilpatrick, after ripping off the City of Detroit and engaging in really impressive amounts of corruption that fleeced the city for millions, has announced he has found religion and is now preachin' and declaring he's a pastor.

And the credulous fools in Detroit love him for it and gave him a pulpit to do it from.

He took the pulpit to shouts of “Kwame!” and “We love you, Kwame!” and delivered a sermon that drew standing ovations. He thanked churchgoers for praying for him.

They bought his claim of now being a changed man hook, line, and sinker and along the way forgot that the devil can cite Scripture for his purpose:

Pope said he liked that Kilpatrick stuck to biblical references in delivering his sermon because it showed his commitment to his faith.

“I think he’s already a phenomenal pastor,” Pope said.

Detroiter Gwen Greenlee agreed.

“(Kilpatrick) did a blessed sermon,” Greenlee said. “He used the Bible. He is a changed person.”

. . .

Evangelist Rosemary Washington-White said she believes the former mayor is “born again,” and it showed with his knowledge of scripture and his application to his own life.

“He did an awesome job,” said Washington-White as she left Little Rock Baptist Church Sunday. “He’s a changed man.”

Con men are gonna con, and the credulous sheep will continue to be fleeced in the City of Detroit.

One of the many mistakes Trump made during his presidency was commuting this con man's sentence to seven years after he fleeced an entire city.

Catch and Release, and Catch and Release, and Catch and Release Again

It's very refreshing for criminals when they do not have to post bail and instead are released immediately upon arrest.

In this way with no cash bail,  they can become a one-criminal daily crime wave.

FoxKTVU: California man arrested three times in one day, given citation and released due to state zero-bail policy

Dijon Landrum was arrested for braking into and stealing a car at around 8:28 am.

He was arrested and then immediately released without bail.

An hour later he was caught leaving a home with stolen property.

He was arrested and then immediately released without bail.

Less than twelve hours later, at 8:28pm he was then arrested again after  fleeing officers after stealing another car.

Yes, he was again booked and released without bail.

3 felonies in less than 24 hours.  Oh, and he's still free to wander and commit more crimes.

This no cash bail policy so highly touted by the progressives as being just and equitable for the poor is instead releasing criminals to prey upon poor communities and others with impunity. Great for criminals but leading to rising crime rates everywhere its been tried

Sadly our local newly elected progressive county prosecutor is pushing for eliminating cash bail as well.  Expect crime to rise here in a similar fashion as a result.

Catch And Release Times 4 And Counting

Neither the third time, nor the fourth time was the charm for this "no human is illegal" pedo sex offender.

The Detroit News: Convicted sex offender deported 4 times arrested in Michigan

Border Patrol agents have arrested a convicted sex offender who illegally entered the United States and has been deported four times, investigators said Tuesday.

. . .

After questioning by Border Patrol agents, the man, a Mexico citizen identified as Jesus Trejo-Garcia, told them "he had entered the United States illegally by wading across the Rio Grande River near Laredo, Texas," officials said in a statement.

Anyone expect what will eventually be his fifth deportation to make any lasting difference?

The only difference I can see is we can expect Biden to offer him a pathway to citizenship on the next go-round.

Rick Moranis A Victim of The New York Knockout Game

As a further sign of New York City's decline. Canada's own beloved Rick Moranis aka Bob Mackenzie was sucker-punched in an unprovoked attack outside of his apartment building.

Reported on in more detail in the New York Post.

That the cowardly jerkoff doing it is wearing an "I Love New York" hoodie adds to the irony.

A real tough guy there, knocking out a tiny 67-year-old comedian.

Hopefully the cops catch this scumbag.  My bet is we'll find he has priors for assault, and if caught he'll likely be released without having to post bail, which is ridiculous but that's New York.   Hopefully, they charge the pos with a hate crime in addition to the assault charges.

Detroit Man Brings A Sword, A Kukri, And A Dagger To A Gunfight

With predictable results.

(Not actual footage of the incident)

The Detroit Free Press: Man fatally shot by police after pursuing, injuring officer with thrown dagger, police say

Chasing police while waving a sword around and throwing a dagger at them is no basis for a peaceful dialogue.

Of course, the usual suspects are protesting and demanding an independent investigation because police apparently should not defend themselves while being attacked by people with swords.

Chris White, director of the Detroit Coalition Against Police Brutality, issued a statement Thursday evening calling for an independent agency to investigate the shootings.

He expressed concern for what he says is a “shoot to kill policy," and the potential for more incidents that will hurt the city.

“It doesn't take an expert in weaponry to know a dart doesn't compare to a bullet,” he said. “We understand the city is violent due to decades of disinvestment and erosion of access to public goods. However, we strongly feel that the department is using this violence as a rationale to shoot to kill.”

Yes indeed, Mr. White, who is Black, yet cannot comprehend any shades of Grey, and only sees the world in Black and White, clearly has no clue what he's talking about and is clearly not an expert in weaponry, nor even a rank amateur.

Thankfully, Chief Craig is properly backing his officers and Detroit is lucky to have him at the helm of the police force.

Deputy Has Excellent Shooting Performance Under Pressure

An Eaton County, Michigan Sheriff's Deputy demonstrated the importance of the Tueller drill in a rather dramatic fashion.

Knife attacks happen fast, as this scenario demonstrates.

She also demonstrated how to coolly and quickly clear a failure while being charged at by a multiple blade-wielding attacker. She also demonstrates that you need to keep shooting until the attack ceases, as one-shot stops are nice, but certainly not guarranteed against a motivated attacker, and in this case he took a lot of hits and was still talking at the end of the encounter.

While you may argue she let the attacker get too close before she started shooting, that encounter happened fast, and was still very good shooting and reflexes on her part. Next time someone ignorantly asks why the police can't just shoot an attacker in the leg, show them this video and ask them if they think they could do any better under the circumstances.

I'd say an excellent job on the part of this deputy, and lots can be learned from the video of this encounter.
