NCL Cruise Day 2 - In Bruges - To Ypres

From Tyne Cot, we traveled to the City of Ypres.

We passed by the French National Cemetery at Saint Charles De Potze.

3,500 french soldiers that died in the Flanders region are buried there.

Ypres is a walled fortress city, designed by Vauban, and portions of the walls still stand today:

The City was pretty much leveled to the ground in the First World War.  All you see has been rebuilt.

We entered the city through the Menin Gate.

Sadly the Menin Gate memorial is being refurbished and restored, so we were not able to see the memorial inside, and entered through a pedestrian access point you see on the right side there, through the construction area to enter the city.

By the Menin gate there's a memorial to the Indian soldiers that served on the Flanders Front:

We entered the city and headed to In Flanders Fields Museum.
