You really can't make this stuff up.   

When diversity is prized more than competence, unfortunately stuff like this happens. We've been told for years that gender doesn't matter in people being able to do a job. That is, until now, when we're told gender and diversity are the vital parts of doing a job.

The Western Standard: Female firefighters planned burn goes awry in Banff

To say it went "awry" is an understatement.

A prescribed burn highlighted on the agenda of a women’s firefighting conference, held to promote “diversity and inclusion” in a male-dominated field, didn’t go well.

Accidentally setting Banff National Park ablaze wasn’t part of the plan.

The prescribed burn was carried out in Compound Meadows, adjacent to the Banff townsite, by Parks Canada and participants in Canada’s first-ever Women-in-Fire Training Exchange (WTREX).

It raged out of control Wednesday forcing the temporary evacuation of horses from the Banff Light Horse Association and hundreds of area residents and tourists in the Rocky Mountain Resort. 

The conditions that day were actually against doing a prescribed burn, but it was on the agenda, and girl power over environmental conditions and the patriarchy, right?

They also had some non-binary firefighters there for more diversity, which was nice. 

The May 1-12 conference attracted certified firefighters from Canada, the US, Bolivia, and Ecuador to, among other things, combat adversity in a male-dominated profession.

Instead of a nice gender-affirming and adversity-combating controlled prescribed burn, they got a wildfire burning out of control in a National Park.

Even worse, men had to be called in to help put it out:

The calvary was called in to help fight the blaze.

Five helicopters raining down buckets of water, firefighters from both Banff and Canmore, Alberta Wildlife, and RCMP were needed to help Parks Canada and WTREX participants stop the fire from spreading further, control the traffic situation, and help with evacuation efforts.

To make matters even worse than that, when concerned residents saw the smoke and called the Women-in-Fire Training Exchange to ask what was wrong they were told:  

"Nothing, it's fine.", and then silence.

And Just Like That

The Master's Degree program in Gender and Women's Studies at the University of Kabul is now cancelled.

Yes, no kidding, they had one.  

Too bad both the University and the UN didn't concentrate more on anti-corruption, basic civilization, how to progress beyond the 7th Century, and how to go about effectively fighting the Taliban before getting into higher-level esoteric gender theory.

On the upside, and it's likely to be the only upside to come of this debacle, the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan will provide lots and lots of ongoing opportunities for progressive feminists looking to research what an actual misogynistic patriarchal society looks like.   

You know, they can now study in detail an actual society run by Islamist religious uber-zealots where the Handmaid's Tale is the least bad that can be expected, with burkas instead of snazy red and white uniforms.

This is, of course, assuming they want to leave the comforts of claiming the United States is a terrible misogynistic country par excellence where there is an ongoing systemic war on women, and also leave the comfort of their academic towers and taxpayer-funded research grants to do so, in order to head out to see what a real hellhole and actual war on women looks like.

Whoever did this is an absolute genius at heightening the contradictions inherent among the Progressive Left.

Read the whole thing, and then sit back and admire the gumption of whoever put up these signs, and the cognitive dissonance among the leftists it has caused.

Reporters have noted that residents are confused about these flyers, not knowing whether to be offended, or if indeed it is even permissible to be offended by them:

After all, could you as a progressive even decide and openly proclaim what part of this poster offends you?

If it is Islam's well-known treatment of women that offends you, you're obviously a terrible Islamophobe.

But, if you're offended because you believe Islam is right in how it treats women, then your pro-feminist credentials are suspect. Very, very suspect, and you're clearly a male chauvinist pig - that's not halal either.

Genius, I tell you, sheer genius.

The only improvement one can hope for is the person(s) post it elsewhere than on public signs so they can't be so easily removed for being in an unlawful spot.

Whoever did this needs to post signs saying "Islam Is Right About LGBTQ" and watch progressive cognitive dissonance whiplash go up to 11.
