Hamas And Holy Days

While the UN passed a resolution demanding a ceasefire in Gaza for Ramadan, they made no effort to have one imposed for Yom Kippur.

Not that Hamas would have honored it in any case, as they certainly have a lack of respect for anyone else holy days, much less their own. The latest conflict, as you may remember, kicked off on October 7 with Hamas committing a massacre and kidnapping during a Jewish Holiday of Simchat Torah.

Sure enough, Hamas just did rocket attack during Yom Kippur  today.

Arutz Sheva: Rocket fire disrupts Yom Kippur silence in Ashdod

Sirens were sounded in the city of Ashdod and the surrounding area on Wednesday evening, at around 8:50 p.m., as Israelis observed Yom Kippur - the holiest day on the Jewish calendar.

Residents of the area reported hearing explosions.

The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit stated that five projectiles were fired by Hamas terrorists from the northern Gaza Strip into Israeli territory.

No urgent resolution nor condemnation from the UN for this latest attack during the holiest day for Jews.

Funny, that.

The Schumer Shutdown

Well Day 1 into the shutdown and so far the United States has continued to chug right along.  Indeed many would argue it is working better than before and saving money, too.

With essential government functions untouched, mayhaps everyday Americans will start asking themselves why are we are paying for all these non-essentials?

I'm not sure how well the Democrat's demands for funding for healthcare for illegal aliens and funding for NPR to end the shutdown are resonating with everyday Americans.  They're both rather poor hills to die upon.

Anyway, just gotta say, poor Senator Schumer.

When even CNN is mocking him, reconsideration of the Schumer Shutdown be a thing to do:  Redstate: Watch: Rare Hilarious Moment on CNN When Senate Minority Leader Gets Owned Over Schumer Shutdown

I mean when you've lost CNN less than a day into your shutdown pageantry, and they use your own recent words about not doing shutdowns against you,  it may be time to reconsider the tactic.

Or not.

Don't Threaten Us With A Good Time

Joy Reid, continuing the strategy of the Democrats and their supporters in the media being on the 20 side of any 80/20 issue. Here its likely the 2 of a 98/2 issue.

Fox News: Ex-MSNBC host Joy Reid warns GOP wants to return to 'no income tax'

The sheer terrible Republican dystopia she is warning us about

Joy Reid warns Americans of MAGA plans: “No income tax, no regulations, earn as much as you want, and leave it to your children with no taxes, that’s the world they want.”

The horror, the horror.

Grand Blanc Mormon Church Attacked And Set On Fire

An attacker entered the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints today in Grand Blanc and shot people praying inside and set the church on fire.

Police and firefighters are on scene, attacker is reported to be dead.

Lots of people are wounded and the church is still burning at this time.

Click On Detroit: Grand Blanc church shooting: Multiple victims, shooter dead, church on fire, police say

Other than that, we don't have any other facts about this terrible act.

Update:  Apparently the attacker rammed a truck into the building, threw an IED and started shooting. 6-8 victims so far, and church is destroyed due to the fire set by the attacker.

Further update: It is reported that an armed church security guard shot and killed the attacker.

Correction to further update:  It's now reported that the attacked was killed by responding police officers and not church security

Stupid Criminals: What We Have Here

Is a massive failure of the victim selection process.

Our stupid criminal decided to rob not just one, but two armed off-duty police officers

ABC7: Man shot while allegedly trying to rob 2 off-duty NYPD officers at Penn Station

Law enforcement officials say a couple, a husband and wife, were boarding an LIRR train between tracks 18 and 19 around 7 p.m., when the suspect tried to rob the husband, an off-duty NYPD officer.

The suspect wound up in a scuffle with the husband, and that's when police say the wife, also an off-duty NYPD officer, pulled out her gun and shot the suspect in the arm and stomach.

Yep, it happily be that way sometimes.

With this being Alvin Bragg's New York, it is no surprise that the robber had not just a laundry list of prior crimes, but had committed an assault last month but was already out on the street when he made his bad victim selection:

Sources told Eyewitness News that the 32-year-old suspect, who lives in a shelter in Brooklyn, has five prior unsealed arrests, mostly for assault and menacing, including one alleged assault that happened just last month.

Funny how that happens. At least this assault had an ending that may just keep him off the streets and unable to commit crimes for at least another month.

A Good Communist

While she sadly never faced the justice she deserved, JoAnne Chesimard, more commonly known among the red diaper baby and fellow traveller set as  Assata Shakur, a cop-killer, has now become a good communist.

NBC 6 SouthFlorida:  Assata Shakur, Black revolutionary on F.B.I.'s most wanted list, dies in Cuba

She apparently died of "health problems and advanced age" in Cuba, where she was given asylum.  She died at the age of 78.

It would be a fitting irony and appropriate end indeed if the "quality" of Cuba's socialist healthcare system contributed to her demise.

A Perfectly Dependable Pistol

As mentioned in Sunday's range trip post, I've acquired a replacement pistol for my SIG P320s.

It's a Walther PDP Pro, complete with an ACRO 2 red dot sight.

The Walther Dynamic Perfomance trigger is really great.  Between that and the ACRO, hitting the target was rather easy.

So far with 250 rounds through last Sunday,  I'm just starting to get used to it.  Zero malfunctions so far, and with 18 round magazines, its easy to get ammo going through it to the target so you're shooting more and reloading less.

Overall it fits the hand well, it comes up naturally when drawn, and the eye finds the dot immediately in the ACRO.  So far, so good.

Now that I've put the smaller back strap on the PDP, it fits my hand better. I need to get back out to the range to try it out and see if that change improves things.

I also bought a Tenicor Velo 5 holster to carry it in. First time trying Tenicor.

The Tenicor Velo 5, interestingly, is shipped with the clips and camming bar unassembled to the holster. This seems weird but there is a link provided to a Youtube video on how to best fit the holster to your body. Very smart, that.

After sizing it appropriately following the steps in the video, I think it conceals the PDP rather well especially as it is very much a full-sized pistol:

Don't mind the wrinkles too much. The Tenicor makes the Walther PDP disappear under just a plain t-shirt. I'm rather impressed.

The Velo 5 is also rather comfortable for carry in the holster.  No need for a wedge at this point, and the shape of it works very well to both conceal and make it comfortable to carry the PDP. So far so good, it's a solidly built and well thought out holster.

So far the Walther PDP is a worthy and reliable successor to the SIG P320.  Time and more range trips will tell to see if I can shoot better with the Walther than the SIG.

What Happened To Trust The Science There, Lefties?

Lefties were frothing mad that Trump announced the results of a study that suggested that Tylenol taken during pregnancy could contribute to Autism.

That study was done by that well known right wing crackpot institution - Harvard University

Not just by some schlub at Harvard mind you, but by Andrea Baccarelli, dean of the faculty at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and professor of environmental health.

And before you say it's just one study (because you didn't bother to even read the abstract), the Harvard Study itself references 47 prior studies that suggest there is a neurological problem with taking Tylenol during pregnancy.

Indeed, even the manufacturer of Tylenol itself stated back in 2017 that Tylenol is not recommended to be taken during pregnancy.

In short, there is sufficient data to suggest use of Tylenol during pregnancy is very much contra-indicated.

So, of course, a trainload of pregnant leftist women are going on TikTok and are performatively guzzling Tylenol.   This may provide further grounds for yet another statistically significant study if they keep at it.

Seriously, if Trump announced a cure for cancer had been discovered, Leftists would start protesting and immediately form CCM - Cancer Cells Matter in response.
